Goals for clinical log paper

Every week we have to write a goal for the next weeks clinical. I currently have one of my clinical at an ICU. I am having trouble finding a goal for myself. It has to be able to be done during the time (6 1/2 hours) that we are there. Any suggestions?

are you looking for something to do with skills or theory?

How about - explain all the cations and anions (explain all about hypernatremia, hyponatremia, hyperkalemia, hypokalemia, hypercalcemia, hypocalcemia, hypermagnesium, hypomagnesium, and maybe add phosphate, protein too)

Or maybe - explain all about acid/base imbalances.

there are all kinds of advanced nursing procedures that are done by the icu nurses. you want to at least observe one or two of them. this site lists some of the things that go on in icu nursing. pick one. personally, i would recommend that you learn the basics of an ekg rhythm strip since all icu patients are on telemetry and their heart rates are monitored.
