  1. I am currently applying to graduate school to become a FNP. I graduate nursing school 6 years ago. Some of my professors are no longer there. One of my applications needs 3 references one strongly encouraged to be a professor. Do you think it would be ok not to have one? I feel like my professors would not remember me. Or would you contact a former nursing professor via email asking if they would fill out a recommendation?
  2. Currently I work 2nd shift. Our unit is going to 12 hour shifts in October. Due to seniority I got put on days 7am-7pm. But right now my husband is in school for another year or so and is not working. we have a toddler and currently have no daycare. If I move to days it's less pay and I would have to pay for daycare which is about $800-1000 a month. If I got to nights I won't need daycare, but might get less sleep. This would only be for 5 years then I probably would go to days after that. What would you do? Is working nights that bad?
  3. Sorry i meant betadine scrub and paint.
  4. A few dr use this method for their c-sections. I have asked a few charge nurses to show me and they both had way different ways of doing it. How do you use this?
  5. Hi I am a new L & D nurse. I have about 2 weeks left of orientation and then I am on my own! I still am having trouble with checking my patients cervix. Its hard for me to find the cervix and when I do half the time I am a few centimeters off. Any advice or tips? I know I just have to keep trying but I hate that I struggle at this.
  6. I took my test July 2nd at 8am and got my results today July 4th at 8am. I checked at the Pearson Vue website.
  7. A mix of questions. I got about 5-8 SATA...I didn't keep track because I thought that would increase my anxiety. I got a few priority questions, maybe more who knows. I know I got 3 med calculations. Overall I left the test crying feeling like I missed all the questions.
  8. Congrats everyone! I just found out that I passed!!!
  9. I just found out that I passed!!! Thanks for the encouraging words!
  10. Just found out this morning! I passed!!! Woo hoo! Good luck to everyone who is waiting.
  11. Select all the apply.
  12. I just took the NCLEX and it turned off at 77 or was it 78 questions? I feel horrible, starting crying when it shut off. I got about 10 SATA and a few med calcs. But I tried to not keep track of those. Anyone else get this amount and pass? Why didn't it shut off at 75? Why 77 or 78 questions?
  13. What did you get on the question trainer 7? Have you taken the NCLEX? I just finished it and got a 64%. I have been doing better on the qbank. I am scheduled to take the NCLEX this Wednesday. But I am worried about my score. I heard from Kaplan that you need a 65% or better on trainer 7.
  14. How did you cope on your test day? I know not to study the day before or the day of. I am afraid that I will have major test anxiety when I take NCLEX that will effect my score. Besides breathing into a bag any suggestions? I am taking the test July 2nd. Also what would be a good breakfast the day of? THANKS!
  15. I am taking the NCLEX July 2nd. Thats only 3 weeks from now! I have been studying a few hours each day for a couple of weeks. I also took the Kaplan review class. Do you think that is enough time? I am going to study more per day now. I also start orientation for my job this Monday, but its only 8am-2pm, and Friday, Sat, Sun off.
