One of my classmates in a BSN program went straight into the MSN program. What made her situation unique was that she had never worked one day in a healthcare position and at close to 30 still lived with parents. Since the economy was better then, suspect that she was avoiding the real world of work.
I am a May 09 ADN grad and decided to go straight to a BSN program....I continue to apply to jobs but felt like I couldn't sit around and do nothing...........the program so far is no where near as challenging as regular nursing school but at least I am staying current with information. I also made sure of the programs stop out policy in case I am lucky enough to land a new grad job and can't do it all right away (I am in a non online rn-bsn program). So even though financially I NEED to work this way I feel I am more marketable and could take out student loans to get by.

I just been wondering, with the way the economy is going and how stressful and difficult it is turning out to be for new nursing grads to attain employment. I have heard that many ADNs are having hard time getting the job bc BSN nurses are being considered more competitive. Has anyone gone straight to a BSN program after having no luck finding jobs or right after becoming a registered nurse (passing boards), thanks I have to write a paper about a important issues facing nursing students today. I appreciate all the replies.
