U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi everyone!

Thought I could start this thread for anyone that is applying to the GCC Nursing Program this spring? I'm just getting my portfolio organized and prepared. I have to take the HESI one more time on Feb 24th and attend an info session on Feb 28th and I'm all set. I'm so nervous! But, I'm going to try to be optimistic. I look forward to hearing from you guys :) Take Care~

Congratulations, nurd 163!! Ok, at least all of us are in! I'm going for a walk....

Thanks, Skeletor! And thanks for your help so far!

With everyone from this thread that was accepted into the program so far today, yous could form an "Allnurses" class

Ten student maximum per clinical group, unless that policy has changed.

FYI Class of 2013 (sounds nice!):

The required and recommended books list will be announced in the upcoming syllabus.

Syllabi are distributed during orientation, which occurs during August.

I was planning to ask you about when textbook lists and required reading were given out, Skeletor. Not until orientation? Wow! Ok, that leaves time off this summer. Sort of.

My apologies, required reading assignments are given out before the summer, because some assignments are due on the first day of lecture class.

I guess we'll need to know what book(s) to read from then? That's one way of finding out, lol.

Yeah, when do we usually know what assignments and required readings?

Skeletor,

Ah~ I'm so excited. The ipod touch i have i bought used on amazon and the battery life sucks, so i think i might have to buy a new one. I'm sure it's worth the investment. Are you aloud to use technology like ipod touch during clinical rotation?

Also another question, for the fall semester I will be taking of course Nursing 1 and lab, but I have two more pre-reqs to finish up. Psychology of Human Development which I plan to take online and a humanities elective.

Which humanities elective is more beneficial for a nurse or for the nursing program? I was thinking about either critical thinking, biomedical ethics, or spanish? I'm not sure if the spanish for medical professions counts as a humanities elective.

What did you guys take?

Yes, PDAs and smart-phones are allowed in the clinical area; just switch your phone to "airplane mode."
