Much has already been written on them, just do a search. They actually do exist. But you are here under a student visa or an exchange visa and have to leave the US at the end of your degree per the requirements of their program. You will not be able to adjust to remain in the US.
I have a friend, just finished her MA degree via student visa paid by a teaching hospital in US and went back to our home country to visit her ailing father. She's back to US now after a couple of weeks.
The poster was asking specifically about this program, and they do not use the F-1 visa for it because it restricts the hours that can be worked per week. AS of late, they are only using the H1-B or the J-1 visa.
