I am a nursing student in the last semester. I have a take home math test. I answered all questions correctly . I am stumped on one question can anyone help if I don't get it right I fail the last semester. Here it is...
I go to a homecare visit. My client gets 50 units. The insulin syringe breaks. I use a regular syringe and give o.5 cc, but what size needle do I use now? Can anyone help me with this? Thank you
QuoteThat is one thing I was thinking about earlier, the smallest size needle I have ever seen in any facility that I have worked in was a 25 gauge, separate from a syringe. I don't know if smaller sizes are available, separate from a syringe, or not.
Boxes of needles are available (that I have see) up to a 28ga, we use a lot of small needles in Peds, especially with vaccines.
I really want to thank everyone for their replies whether they appeared negative or positive . I really am very stressed over the fact that i was asked such a question. i know i will nerver forget the answer to this question? MUCH THANKS TO ALL !!! YOU KNOW THAT ILL POST THE ANSWER AS SOON AS I GET IT!!!!my research continues>>>>>>>>>>>
we frequently use 27 ga or 30 ga for numbing purposes prior to suturing......however if you stick w/ the tb syringe - most of them have a preattatched needle - i am sure a 25ga would be fine - you give other sq injections w/ that....right?!?!?! the 30 ga is not something you would likely have on hand.. and yes - all these needles are adaptable to be screwed onto any size syringe....luer lock of course!!
Thank-you for your answer I have contacted bd a needle manufacturer -I now have copies of detailed information about needles and sizes as well I have TRAUMA TOM,S reference from Clinical drug therapy Rationale for nursing Practice. Fundamentals of nursing reference on size to use for operation...........This teacher expected me to know this question... if you forget to cross a ; T in her class you will get it wrong ... 100% on math including grammar is very important to her......... I know she likes me and thinks that Im all that ............ hUMMMM?
QuoteTRAUMA NURSE ,NEW JERSEY,
I missed class and the original math test. I have done all the math questions she has given me . I already know everything is right., but every question you are given has to be correct -you cannot have no errors- with a math exam or you fail the entire semester........ that the reasons she may fail me... because their is not just one answer....IN THIS INSTRUCTORS CLASS ITS HER WAY OR NO WAY......... but that's just nursing school IS and rules are rules.....Critical THINKING IS VERY IMPORTANT IN NURSING......100 % OR YOUR OUT >>I just want WANT THE CHANCE TO PROVE MY RATIONALE if she does say Im wrong, Ill take it to the dean.....
So, what is the big answer? I believe it was right about now that you'd have the answer for us... just wondering
