I remember many years ago hearing of entire family like that. One of their kids was actually playing hockey with a broken leg and didn't know it.

geeez. This is one of those times when I have to say there really ARE two sides to everything. Great not to have pain, horrible not to as well.

I felt really bad when I read the bit ::
"If she sees blood, she knows to stop. There's only so much you can tell a 5-year-old."
Poor kid.

Interesting story....
It seems that she does not have a lateral spinothalamic tract... without this pathway pain and temperature sensation is not sent to the brain ( specifically the diencephalon ) for interpretation and localization.

Hi there, I'm looking for any additional information regarding CIPA and genetic engineering/research for an A&P project - any ideas or suggestions?

Without pain your basically not a real human
Huh?? So what is she, an animal? I'm sure you didn't mean that the way it sounded (looked, lol) to me, but that's kind of insensitive. She just has to learn how to be careful and make sure she's not injured. But yes, internal things that would normally cause pain would be a real problem for her.

This is sad poor girl i could not imagine living without pain. Without pain your basically not a real human how is she gonna tell if she has a pain in her chest and it turns out to be breast cancer and its too late to do anything about it.
