GHC fall semester is going great! Lots and lots of fun. How do you guys in Marietta like your instructors?
I really wanted to make a B on the 1st test....I knew an A was impossible. I just now hope that I atleast make a C/D (in the 70s).....I am so depressed. I really hope that I can make it through the program. Thanks dallas, cjohn, and hobo for dealing with me today....I know I was and am still acting crazy.
Theory was the hardest. I don't know about you guys in Marietta, but our test was not like they told us it would be. We had a lot more questions on theory than we were supposed to have.
Also, I felt like a good many of the questions were unfair in that they were questions that a nursing student of 2 weeks would not and probably in my opinion should not know at this point. We had questions like....This postoperative patient's vital signs were x, y, and z. What should you do next?
Yes, I know what NORMAL vital signs should be, but we haven't studied postoperative patients and what their vital signs are considered "normal" right after surgery. I know that general anesthesia will reduce respirations, but at what point do you call the physician? I don't know how things are going in Marietta, but we haven't had a lot of lecture at all. I feel like we are being self taught. I feel like they are expecting us to know things that we haven't had yet.
I honestly can't say that it is my fault. I put in about 35-40 hours or more of study time for that test. So, it's not like I didn't study. I feel like a failure.
I abolutely agree. I had that exact same question on my test about postop patients...and the resp was 8 etc... I put to check vital signs every 30min but who knows....Dallas and Hobo put to call the MD but I would think for a postop patient, the respiratory rate would be low???? I could really cry right now:bluecry1:
I do feel like its alot of self teaching, which blows.. i want THEM to teach me, and me absorb and learn. But honestly stardan i know you did well, and if you didnt do as hot as you wanted to, now we know how they question us, so this next test we can blow it out the water, and bring our average up! I know im probably low 70s, if that, so just focus on the next test, and how you're gonna improve. YOU will NOT fail out, unless i go with you, and i REFUSE, so tough, ma'am! :)
Cjohn, thank you for your support today. You ALL make me feel better.... but not knowing til late thursday is going to kill me. What also makes me REALLY mad is when I miss the stupid, easy questions. I can't believe I miss the ? on what causes a false high reading.....I knew that but my mind was racing.

Me too. I went blank on a lot of the questions. The theory section was SO hard! I should have studied it a lot more. Where did you feel the weakest?
