Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I was wondering who else is going to be applying to the Gayle Greve Hunt SON- ABSN Spring 2019.

Me! Tomorrow marks one week in lol I'm SO nervous! I wanna know how many people applied.

Hello I'm applying too I just found this threat I had created another one for HESI but couldn't find it. I am worried too (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) said it was 4-6 weeks n I don't know how my stats are or if I stand a chance. I did poorly on my HESI I have a 3.75 in my science gpa and a 3.57 in my overall gpa I took human growth in the summer got an A and will be retakin pathology as a got a C. And my micro lab I'll be taking it too in the fall. I got a 77 on my Hesi but didn't have a chance to study much I did super good on all my sections except anatomy /: I'm so worried this will set me back :,( I also have 2 month experience in a nursing home n just did my orientation for UMC I mentioned it in me personal statement.

I also forgot to mention I have a previous bachelor degree for which I graduated Summa cum laude

I also forgot to mention I have a previous bachelor degree for which I graduated Summa cum laude

I think your stats look good!!! Mine are similar. I have a 3.75 science gpa, I need to calculate my over all gpa because I just finished the summer semester so I need to add those grades. I got an 86.57 on the HESI. I have an associates degree and a certificate in medical assisting and have experience in urgent care and memory care as well as volunteer time.

I get nervous because in my head, everyone has a 4.0 and years of experience in a medical setting when really that's likely not true lol!

This waiting is already killing me and there's much more time left! Haha

You did great in the HESI and yes I worry too I just Feel like in my head the people that get in have tons of experience and high scores in every area. I feel if anything what would set me back would be my HESI score and my experience. At UMC you have to commit to at least a certain amount of hours so I'll be starting this week. I just don't know anyone that got accepted with low HESI scores but who knows :/ my friend knows someone that failed out of the nursing program at epcc which is also hard and got accepted into this one, I just hope we get a chanc at least at the interview

I just hope we get at least a chance at the interview. The waiting kills me but at the same time I get so nervous of thinking I won't get an interview that I don't know which feeling is worse lol

I hope we get interviews too!! My friend who's in the program right now said that a lot of people blow their chance during the interview. They can tell if you're giving a fake or generic answer and they don't like that.

Really? :/ but what kind of questions do they ask that would make them decide that. What should we expect from the interviews? So we can prepare, any help would be great just in case. I'm just worried for my HESI scores it seems as if everyone that goes in has high ones /:

Have you applied to other programs?

No I only applied to this one. We won't be in El Paso long enough for me to finish a longer program. Plus I really want to go to Tech! It's my dream school. I'm not sure what they ask. People don't really talk about the interviews but I think it's because they aren't supposed to. Someone posted in a previous thread that everyone gets different questions too.

Yes that's what I've noticed I didn't know if they don't talk about interviews because they aren't suppose since someone said "I think I should tell you guys" or something like that or because of competition but somewhere in one of these boards I saw that they might ask about retakes and specially why you would like to be a nurse but that don't answer things like "because I want to help others" , It's weird how things work I actually dreamed of going to Texas tech ever since they opened in Ep and for certain reason ended up at Uteps nursing program. I didn't rank in n so now I'm here and hopefully I can get a shot at this it's been so long since I've been trying ti get into nursing school. I'm just worried about that HESI score of mine /:

I wouldn't worry too much about that! They also look at degrees completed, personal statement, all that stuff!
