Getting Past the Recruitment Ropes

U.S.A. New York

hey kids....

so ok..here's my question:

How do you get past the recruitment online application ropes and red tape...and actually get that interview? ?

You submit the cover letter..you submit the resume / online app...and wait? presently i live cross the country in SF and am a CNII. My app is strong. BSN. Working at one of the nations top 10 hospitals. Lot's of involvement on my floor committees (and to the possibility that anyone i know recognizes this..WOOT! holla ;o) so..being in SF...it's not like i can just pop in to a recruitment office like it's down the block...and help push the process along. I haven't seen of any job fairs until May...and word is the one in May isn't so big...more fluff than sustenance (I think it's the nursing spectrum one. i hear the fall nurseweek one is really big). So to them, I'm just a voice on the other line, another app in the mix.

I've spoken with one recruiter to date...who referred me to another recruiter...but nothing else..

I'm working on recommendation letters...to hopefully get me to stand out out of the mix...but well, any tips...connections...networking?

BTW.... I've applied to NYP, MSKCC, Sinai, Maimo, and Methodist. I'd love to get the experience of Bellevue...but alas...the lower pay combo with Sally Mae has me forever indebted for my NYU education:op

darn you sally! :op

Specializes in MCH, L&D.

I would say your best bet is to get the recruiter'ss name and number, and try calling them directly. That's how I got my interview with Maimonides. Good luck, still waiting on the other ten million hospitals I applied to, lol.
