I am newly qualified nurse and just started my first job in A& E in UK. I am planning to get married and move to USA after 1 year.. I am wandering how is the process will be for me to apply for nursing job in USA. I heard you need to do more practical hours before u apply for the NCLEX. Is that true

I keep allnurses link to U.S. state Boards of Nursing updated (found under Community -Tools section).  Many states do not require one to have specific # of hours worked as long as active Registered Nurse or equivalent degree. International Educated Nurses (IEN) requirements vary by state so as Nurse Beth said, check the states where you desire to live.

AN's Nurse Registration forum has posts from nurses who have undergone transition to working in the United States that may help you.

Best Wishes for a smooth transition.

This is going to depend on the state where you will be moving and its requirements. Your transcripts will have to be evaluated before you will know if there are extra steps you will have to take. There is a board of nursing (or a similarly titled entity) for every state. If you search the internet for "(state name) board of nursing" you should be able to locate the requirements for nursing licensure for foreign graduates. Best of luck to you!
