Anyone have any experiences or advise you can offer me? I have been a nurse for almost 10 years now and i have managed to keep it business only until now. A month ago my unit hired a new beautiful, funny, smart nurse that comes on to me daily. She always ask me to hook up with her off duty.
She has even tried to kiss me in empty rooms. Something that would get me as a man fired but thats another story. The temptation to get involve with her is overwhelming. I have seen too many of these go very bad to say the list. I want to avoid this at all cost!!
Workplace romances and involvements should not occur. And I say this because if things go sour, the staff that these people work with usually suffer. No one should have to walk on eggshells because two people who were once involved now can't stand each other. I have seen this first hand, and it was not pretty. It was a doctor that was involved with two nurses. The one nurse was an emotional wreck, she was at work crying and when she tried to confront him, he just brushed it off. It made us all uncomfortable.
Don't do it. Think about your career. You are a nurse first. Romance should be carried on outside of work.
Well, my question for you is have you told her how you feel about workplace romance? Because in all seriousness, it isn't sexual harassment until you've asked that she stop the behavior and it continues.
Talk to her about how you feel and go to management if you two can't find a resolution to your problem.
Ok - I just watched 48 Hours about a woman, who at 21 was an exotic dancer and had 3, count them, 3 older men as "fiance's" and ended up getting one to kill the other for insurance money.Be careful. Be very careful.
steph
Who dates exotic dancers anyway?? Eww..
Do yourself a favor - don't get your honey where you get your money. Keep her at arms distance at all times. She'll eventually lose interest.
