Georgia State University (GSU)-Perimeter College ASN Fall 2024

Published

Hello! I didn't see a post for the Fall 2024 ASN cohort yet so wanted to make one to find some fellow applicants and potential future classmates! I am an older applicant (33, not "old," but you know... non-traditional student just finishing up pre-req's of AP2 and Micro this semester). I took my TEAS in December and applied the next day, LOL. I recently got the email that I meet the minimum requirements. April 30 feels so far away (but I've seen that some people get their acceptances in March or early April) so let's all wait impatiently together!

My error must be something else then because I still can't register for it 😞

Hey guys! I was also accepted! 😄 but I am also unable to sign up for the class. Does anyone know if this class is just one day a week?

My understanding is that there will be lecture one day a week (I believe it's Wednesdays) from 9-3, eventually clinicals once a week, and a skills lab that I'm not sure how often it meets. Maybe @Galb4894 can provide her experience 🙂

@cvmaeveThank you! Are you able to register for NURS 1921 yet?
@Galb4894 could you share what all the first semester consists of ?

I have not been able to register for it yet but I emailed my advisor and he asked for a screenshot of my acceptance letter so there may be something about my major or something that he needs to override. That was around 4:30 yesterday though so hopefully I'll hear back today

I had to do the same thing. I had a missed call from my advisor who left a voicemail stating that they are in the process of changing everyone over and I should be able to register for the class shortly.

The lecture will normally be once a week, but the first week there will be two just to get you jump started on all the content they will give. Skills labs will be once a week, but will only start on the 2nd week. The first one will be 8 hours long, and then the rest of them will be 4. Then, a little while into the semester will be your clinicals at the hospital, which, on paper says it's 7a-7p, but my clinical instructor never kept my group there that entire time. It really just depends on the instructor you get. Throughout the semester, there will also be two different simulations, which will be held on the Dunwoody campus. There will be a week in the semester where you have all four of those things in one week, so it'll get very busy.

I emailed the nursing department, and they told me that they will be changing the students majors in June. I don't understand how I was able to register for the class when my major hasn't been changed yet!

Hi ya'll,

I was not able to add the NURS 1921 either because I have been on the Health Sciences pathway up until now.

I got a response similar to @Rachel Won that the Nursing department will send their list of accepted Fall 2024 Nursing students after June 10, 2024. Your program will be updated to ASN after June 10th but before July 1st.

I believe I will be able to add the class after that.

I wouldn't really worry about that part too much. My recommendation is that you guys order your uniform as soon as possible because the source they use for it takes a really long time to ship. The only thing that you can't get anywhere else except for Meridys is the scrub. You can find the pants directly off of the website of the company that makes them. You just need to make sure that they are the same product code and color, which is red.
