Georgia State University (GSU)-Perimeter College ASN Fall 2024

Published

Hello! I didn't see a post for the Fall 2024 ASN cohort yet so wanted to make one to find some fellow applicants and potential future classmates! I am an older applicant (33, not "old," but you know... non-traditional student just finishing up pre-req's of AP2 and Micro this semester). I took my TEAS in December and applied the next day, LOL. I recently got the email that I meet the minimum requirements. April 30 feels so far away (but I've seen that some people get their acceptances in March or early April) so let's all wait impatiently together!

I've been accepted too!!

@Roxy1

what do you mean by that? Did you not get in? You had a high TEAS.

And congrats everyone! Guess we'll meet in August 😃

@cvmaeve I did get accepted...

Awesome! You had me worried for a sec LOL

Hey everyone, congrats to all of you that got accepted. I'm currently a student and I just attended my first semester. I unfortunately didn't pass and I will be applying for reentry in the cohort all of you will be attending.

I just want to give everyone here a heads up on what this will be like. Some of you may succeed very strongly, but if you're like me, you will have to study in a much different way than you've ever had to. You really have to have a systematic approach to it because of the amount of information you have to remember. My first word of advice is to not read the chapters word for word. They will give an outline on things you will have to know for each topic and I highly suggest letting those guide your reading.

Also, I don't know if you attended orientation already but the grading policy is very strict here. The passing grade is 75% and they do not round like most college classes do. I unfortunately got a 74.5%, which absolutely sucks that I was literally one answer away on my final from passing the course. But, I believe everything happens for a reason.

Let me know if any of you have any questions.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm sure you'll get it the next time around 😁

@Galb4894 could you give examples so we know what we are really getting ourselves into?

Well, one of my biggest challenges was learning how to answer questions in nursing school. They're meant to trick you by using specific wording and answers can be pretty subjective at times. They also ask questions in ways where you have to actually connect everything you learned and know how to apply it.

Thank you so much for your insight. I'm sorry you had a tough first semester. Hopefully we can all help each other out! Our orientation is not until August so we are very uninformed right now, haha

I'm very nervous about the testing myself because I heard it's a lot of tricky ones and "select all that apply" which are so hard for me.

I hope you get a spot for fall and we can all learn together!

Does anyone know what classes to sign up for, or are they gonna tell us at orientation?

It's NURS1921 but my major hasn't been changed yet so they said I won't be able to register for it yet.

You should try now. My major still hasn't been changed, but it allowed me to register for NURS1921!
