Georgia State Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hi! I'm applying to Georgia State University's ACE Track for Spring 2016. Anyone else out there also applying? :)

Im applying for ACE and traditional for spring 2016! My GPA isn't as high as yalls, science 3.7 and overall 3.6. However, I got a 90 on my TEAS and will be retaking it to supplement for my lower GPA. I also have a ton of work and volunteer experience. Im so nervous that I am not going to get in though...how do you get into contact with Hugh Grant?

He's on the 8th floor of the urban life building. You can make an appt with him or just go in for like a quick ten minute walk in advisement.

I would talk to Hugh before taking it again. The points for the TEAS gets really narrow after the 90's. Like, even if you get a 94 after taking it again, your points won't change, so it would have been a waste. Your overall points would increase by 1 point, however, if you get a 95 or above. So, i'd see what he has to say about where you stand getting into the program before taking it, especially since you have a lot of volunteer experience.

Hey guys! I am also applying to GSU for Spring 2016, but for the Traditional Program

By the end of this semester, I am looking at a 3.84 program GPA and a 3.8 Science GPA. My TEAS score is an 80, which is a little on the low side considering they want an 85 or higher, but I am hoping that my GPA, volunteer experience, and essay/short answer questions will pull me through!

Just sent in my Traditional application. It was a doozy! I do not like how they don't give you enough characters to talk about why you chose their SON or the type of healthcare work you have done. So FYI if you have not submitted yours yet, they only allow 50 characters for past healthcare experience and I think 150 for why you chose GSU. Still waiting on one of my recommenders to submit, then mine will be complete. :dead:

Does anyone know when do they start notifying you if you got accepted or rejected?

Congrats on completing the application, firefly22! I have way more than 50 characters on each of my short answer responses, so I guess I'll have to work on that again now. I should have my application completed and sent in this Friday! :)

Hi!

im applying for the traditional spring 2016 program! I finished my pre requisite classes at uga and gpc. I sent in my transcripts back in August but it didn't show up in the system until September 16. Hopefully there's enough time for them to accept me into gsu as a student so I can go on with the actual nursing application. Good luck to all!

@kimandrew, it only took about a week and a half for my acceptance. I think you'll be fine!

@hopeful, thank you! I can't remember the exact number of characters, but I remember they were way too short for what I had written out.

@KimAndrew35... I was very anxious about getting into GSU too because I applied by in March and had not heard back from them in 6 months...just got my acceptance letter the other day though, just in time! I sent in my nursing application a couple days after...

The amount of characters allowed for the short answer questions was very surprising. I had prepared mine as required on the Gsu nursing website saying that the requirement was to write no more than half a page.. So seeing that we were allowed ONLY 50-200 characters on some questions was almost impossible to get a complete thought across..

@jael1 I received a confirmation email a few days ago saying that they had received my application and that we would hear a decision in mid-November..

@kimandrew35 do you mind me asking what your stats are (program GPA, TEAS Score, science GPA)..? just curious

The waiting is the worst part! 😕
