Hello All,
I currently attend GPC Decatur campus, just finished A and P 1 spring 2014 and now making preparations to take the TEAS V and submit my application for the Fall 2015 nursing program. I plan to take A and P 2 Fall 2014 and Micro in Spring 2015. Just wanted to start a thread for students planning to apply for NS Fall 2015. I have been stalking the earlier threads, and they were very helpful and informative. Look forward to meeting some future classmates! :)
From what I can see they want a 63 overall then also in math and reading. I applied for the Fall 15 group as well. I had an 80 overall, 83.3 in math and also in reading. 3.95 overall GPA and a 4.0 in Sciences.
I know this is my calling in life, so I am excited to get it going!

Good luck to us all!!
I think it depends on who you speak to as far as what they list as important. I've been to two informational meetings and they both listed things in different orders. The last one I went to, last yr, said that TEAS scores were #1, then Science GPA, then overall GPA. They also only look at GPAs for classes listed on the nursing pre-reqs and nothing else. That's great for me because I've only taken exactly what's on their list, knowing I wanted to attend their nursing school specifically. I didn't start classes until my daughter passed away and have just been full time for the 4 semesters since then, taking summers off.
I'm surprised they said a 65 on the TEAS is competitive. Maybe the Newton campus is a fluke, but most of us have scores way past that. My lab partner was a 92 but she already got accepted to GRU so she's going there. Another one got a 91, also accepted at GRU. (both applied to GPC as well) I've been the next highest at an 80 but we've heard of many in the 72-78 range as well.
This is what I am meant to do in life, so I pray that my scores are good enough and I get IN!
I'm currently attending GPC-Dunwoody. I'm taking A&P II and Micro currently, and just added the silly POLS 1101 for Second-Half. I had a higher level in undergrad, but GA requires the 1101 so the State has thus received more money from me. I have a Bachelor's, where I graduated with a 2.7 GPA, a Master's, where I graduated with a 3.92 GPA and I have since taken a few additional classes to get my required GPA up to a 3.1 GPA. After this semester it should be a bit higher as well... I took the TEAS and focused on the Math/Reading. Being a "Non-Trad" student, I hadn't had Math in years. I scored a 63.3 on it the 1st time, which thankfully put me over the required 63.0 GPC requires. I scored a 78.4 in Reading the 1st time, which I felt great about... I decided to re-take (and, GPC only counts a re-take against you if you did not get a 63 or higher on your first attempt) 2 weeks later to see if I could improve my scores... I did... I got a 90.5 Reading and 80.0 Math... So, they said in the meeting a couple of weeks ago that to be competitive with the others, you'd need to have a 65 on the TEAS and a GPA of 2.9-3.0.... Thus, right now I feel my TEAS scores are good enough, but my GPA is right on the fence... I know my Master's degree is not factored in since it was in Educational Leadership, but I hope it shows that I can handle tough classes... I originally applied a few years ago and was not accepted due to my undergrad GPA so I hope the changes I've made reflects the efforts I've been putting forth to improve... The waiting... oh, the waiting... my poor sympathetic nervous system every time I walk to the mailbox... I literally feel my heart beating every time I open that box to find out if the letter has arrived...

Hi,
I applied to GPC's nursing program for fall 2015 as well! I'm hoping that I get accepted even though I have not finished all of my prerequisites yet. I'm enrolled in AP II for the spring semester and will finish up micro in the summer. I took the teas and got an 82, hopefully it's a good enough score.
Good luck to all who applied, please keep posting when letters go out.
