Bauder College in Ga closing

Is there anyone attending Bauder College at the present time who can shed some light on thier current situation. I received a call from someone in admissions stating the nursing program is no longer offered at the Atlanta campus. She apologized for any inconvenience and said the school would refund my application fee.

I have been up trying to research this same information. My interview was set for today (Friday). I received an email stating everything is closed until further notice. Say it ain't so......

I was Enrolled as a second choice if I didn't get accepted into Darton. I feel bad for the current nursing students because accreditation was never fully attained.

I spoke with the director earlier and she stated the enrollment was down. They made the decision on Wednesday and emailed everyone on Thursday evening. I'm in total shock:no:

I graduated from bauder's RN program last year and heard that the school apparently lost funding. Not too sure about all the details though. I know the accreditation thing was always looming over our heads....

It is a private (For-Profit) institution that is owned by Kaplan. So, when you say they have "lost funding", are you saying that the students can no longer access Federal Subsidized Student Loans and Pell Grant? These For-Profit schools in general, cannot survive without these two Federal supported Programs, since most of their students primarily use such funding source. These schools were set up to maximize the drawn down from these two sources. Frankly, I think most of these For-Profit schools are a big riff off and not many students that start their programs ever receive the degree and are left holding the bag, with high student loan debt and very little job prospect.

Now that the Federal Government is going after these schools with low retention/graduation rates and high loan defaults, I'm sure something drastically happened for them to pull the plug so suddenly. Let this be a warning to future students who plan on attending these (predatory) high costs For-Profit Schools with low retention/graduation rates. The federal government is targeting these schools and you might be left out in the cold. Community College is the way to go. Going to a school with a low barrier to entry will not turn out well for most.

Tuition for an Associates Nursing Degree average about $46K and for a Business Administration - Fashion Merchandising (Bachelor of Science), will run you over $72K!!

I don't have all the details, just sharing what I heard from another alumni. I don't know if enrollment was down or what. I'm sure more info will come out at some point

Anyways, when i enrolled January 2014, enrollment for other degree programs such as business management, nursing, and criminal justice were already low. The school is not closing for the fashion students which is what the school originally catered to in the first place. The president came to all classes and sent emails to students explaining the reason for the closing. Current students have the choice to transfer to the online program with no change in original tuition or have their program reevaluated to see if classes can be moved up so the student can finish by the end of 2015. The school still has its accreditation however, with less and less students signing into these programs, the school cannot afford to provide educators resulting in the closing of certain degree programs. I am not plagued by the decision because i will have completed my degree requirements. I would recommend finding another school to attend, which for you nursing students may cost less money because Bauder is a private school, it costs much more.
