my state now has the dubious honor of being the only state in the nation in which nps do not have prescriptive privileges.
how disgraceful!!!! as a nurse, i am highly insulted!!! why don't we all-nurses subscribers start an email and letter-writing campaign to the georgia state legislature and also major georgia newspapers!!!???? let's show them our clout and not take this lying down!!!

The Georgia General Assembly is in session from January though March each year.
Current Legislation: http://www.georgianurses.org/bills_pending.htm
SB 36: http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2003_04/fulltext/sb36.htm This is the APRN prescribing bill. Dr. Thomas, Chair of the Health and Human Service Committee has promised to hold a hearing on the bill next week.
Each of these bills can be read in their entirety at http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2003_04/leg/legislation.htm.
You may also go to GNA Lobbyist, Demetrius Mazacoufa's, web page (http://www.mazacoufa.com/), click on the Legal/Lobby Link, and go to the House or Senate links found there to give you access to a variety of legislative information -- from bills, committee membership, legislator addresses, etc.
Let's Contact GNA Lobbyist to see how we can help for the next session!
Thanks for the info Karen, as always helpful and informative. I hope we can turn this thing around next year.
Oh and for accuracy's sake, I should state that here in GA, Dems have controlled the legislature for years and they never would pass the bill so I don't want to make look like it is one political party's fault. It is more of that good ole boys' network that CseMgr1 mentioned.
