I called up to highlands about a month ago when I was trying to fill out the calculation worksheet and was told by the nursing dept secretary that it was not necessary to fill out the worksheet. She said that students were filling them out incorrectly and that they do not require it to be filled out anymore.
I applied for this fall. I am incredibly anxious to find out if I made it in. Hopefully, we both get in. I do not have any experience either. I signed up a volunteer for Wellstar. I just did it so that I could become familiar with the hospital setting. Hopefully, they look more at our grades than our experience because I do not have any. The only experience I have caring for people is caring for my family of five.
I think they still go by the worksheet totals, but they just don't require us to fill it out anymore. Last year's accepting score was around 1200, so if you download the worksheet and do the math and your score is better than that, your odds are pretty good. Also, straight from the department, "Applicants are ranked according to an admission score that is based on SAT score and GPA in the core courses." There's no mention to any previous job experience adding in points.
I am a little under a 1200 because of a couple of bad grades 6 years ago. And I do not have any experience. I have been through this before so I am a little worried. I am about to retake some classes at GPC over the summer and hope that helps for next time (in case I do not get in). Good luck to you, dallasga123 sounds like you will get in. Did you aplly anywhere else? Waiting is so hard!!!
Also, do you know what happens if you did not take the SAT? Thats one reason my total seemed low because I did not have an SAT score to put down. I am not required to take the SAT because I already have a bachelors degree. So, does this mean I do not get any points for that part of the worksheet? That is a big part of the points. Thanks for any input.
WOW, I wish I had a bachelor's degree. I think the worksheet only went to 1800. That would certainly give someone a foot in. When I worked up my worksheet, it seemed like my SAT on the worksheet only counted for a little over 200 points. I have only applied to GHC as of right now. I thought about Kennesaw State, but their program is four year program. I can't wait that long to start making $.:anbd:

Just wondering if anyone knows if getting accepted to GHC is still based on the application worksheet. I just sent in my application but they no longer require the app. worksheet. Does anyone know if they still use the totals on the worksheet or do they do it differently? Also, does anyone know if they have ever taken anyone who has a C? Or, what about the minimum GPA? Thanks for any info about GHC.
