Georgia Highlands College Waiting Game!

Published

Hopefully, we are getting close to hearing something. I wanted to start a new thread and see if anyone wanted to play the waiting game for fall ADN Program. We've been waiting since April 1st and it's about time we heard something.:anbd:

Hey guys - do we have to take chemistry for nursing at GHC?

I had heard that the nursing department was going to start requiring it, but I don't know if they ever did. You'll probably have to call the nursing department to find out for sure.

They do not require Chemistry. You can sub chemistry for the computer studies class, in which I did. I know if you want to pursue a BSN or MSN....they recommend that you take it.

Ok thanks, guys - Ms. Cozby told me the same from the GHC nursig dept, BUT the course catalog states that for health professions majors, in section D, that either a chem sequence or a physics sequence is required. Help clarify...please?

I know that chemistry is required for the dental hygiene program but not nursing. I am not sure why it states in the catalog that either a chem or physics sequence is required.

Last year, the nursing department said that they were thinking about requiring new students (pre-nursing) incoming as nursing majors to take Chemistry. They haven't been able to implement that requirement yet though, because they don't have the staff to teach it. (That is what I was told by the instructors who I took the biologies from.) Everybody that is accepted to the college and declares their major is put under a certain "catalog" number/year. Whatever catalog you are under when you declare your major at the college, is the same catalog that you will follow all the way through to know which classes you must take.

It is my understanding that even if Chemistry becomes a requirement for the pre-requisite classes to nursing, if you are under an older catalog it won't apply to you.

Now, that all might be a big load of horse poo.....but that is the way it was explained to me. :nuke:

I know someone mentioned what the daily class lab schedule was... How many days per week are clinicals?

nevermind, I meant to put the previous question on the other GHC thread.

Today may be the day!!!!! HopeforMelissa, let us know if you receive the letter since you live the closest.

Well, today will defin be the day for some of us..... I am living in dreamland hoping that even though I live a good ways from Rome that I might also get blessed w/news.......Can't fault a girl for dreaming, right?........

Yeah, I live in Kennesaw and will be checking the mail as soon as I get home... I may even have to call and have someone check it for me! Good luck to everyone.
