Is anyone applying for Fall 2010 admission to this program?
Congrats to everyone that was accepted into the nursing program!!!
I will meet with an GHC advisor tomorrow morning in Marietta to discuss my options & how I should go about doing things at this point. I'm currently attending GPC and I want to transfer out. I had a friend that graduated from GHC last May and is working one job but interviewed a couple weeks ago and got that job as well!! So things are promising once we finish school. But, I'm looking for any advice that anyone can offer me with ANYTHING!!! I'm at the end of my pre-reqs almost (A&P 1 just the lecture, then A&P2 w/lab, then micro). One question also, some say finish these first then apply and some say apply and finish these inside the program; what do you think??
Thanks Guys

If all goes well with my transfer evaluation, I will be applying for Spring entry into GHC Nursing Program. I know that if you plan to enter in the Spring, you must have all of your pre-requisites completed prior to the start of the Spring semster. This is because students entering the program in the Spring have no summers off to take these required courses. The way it was explained to me was that students who enter in the Fall have summers off and are able to complete the required courses during the summer.
I am not sure if you are familiar with GHC application procedure. I have been looking at it quite a bit lately because the Spring deadline is September 15th. Eeek! They rank students on a point system, the nursing worksheet can be found under the admissions section of the nursing program website. This form will help you figure out your application score. Completing those courses prior to applying will give you a higher score. If you look at this worksheet, it might help you decide what will work best for you. Starting in the Fall, they are going to add the TEAS to the application process and use your score as part of their ranking.
I hope this helps a little. I wish I could offer more help!
Congrats to everyone who got in. First semester will blow your mind, but you can do it. Just remember to try a work in some down time, b/c you will need it.The instructors are great and very helpful. You will love it.
It sounds like you have already been through a semester......As long as my transfer evaulation goes well and I am accepted, I will be driving 1.5 hours to get to class for the first semester. What do you think? Is this going to kill me, should I wait and apply for Fall when I will be living closer?
Thanks!!!
I live in Rome, so the drive was really good for me. Some of my classmates lived far off, but carpooled. They would quiz each other during the drive, which was their "study group" time. Alot off the clinical are also in Rome, so you'll have to make that drive. So based on others it was worht it to drive to Rome, so they could graduated and start working asap. Ihope that helps you decide. How soon would you be moving closer?
Congrats to all the new Highlands students. I am a second year nursing student. I attend the Marietta campus with the Wellstar schoolarship!
Here is my advice....buy a NCLEX book. It will help you with your test questions. This nursing program has really tough test questions. I currently have 4 NCLEX books to study from.
I work and go to school. I was able to maintain 20 hours a week at Kennestone..so it is do-able.
Congrats on getting in! Just remember when your stressing...how many people tried to get your spot in the program. Its a hard program, but it will be worth it!

Fawn is all of your paperwork complete. If not check with Ms. Cozby, the nursing dept. secretary. I know they said that there maybe a delay in us getting into Vista.
