Georgia Baptist College of Nursing 2017

Hello!

I am making this thread because I am applying (VERY VERY EARLY) for GBCON! I have spoken with an advisor (******) and have sent my unofficials to her to be evaluated. I dont have the highest overall GPA and I would not like that to determine my acceptance. I am working hard to bring it up the most I can. I am registered to take the TEAS in September so I am currently busting my butt studying for it. I am also working on my essay. I need It to be perfect. The great thing about Mercer is that they dont just worry about your GPA or TEA scores, They look at it all! Even with my low GPA and not having completed AP1/2 or even Microbiology, Abigail still said I will be a competitive nursing applicant because of my work experience (I work at GMCD as a Unit Secretary/ Patient Care Tech in the OR)

I have a full course load this semester and next but the advisor STILL told me to apply ASAP, The earlier the better. The only thing she mentioned was that I would not receive an acceptance letter till my TEAS scores were submitted.

The faculty at GBCON IS AMAZING and so sweet! they answer any and every question you ask!!! Cant wait to hear from anyone who is applying for FALL 2017

I just called and found out that those of us waiting on a response won't hear back for awhile because they are swamped. My counselor was in a meeting but the person I spoke to said If she has my other transcript needed then it would take 4-6 weeks to know my status!! Last year applicants were getting theirs back way faster, but hang tight ladies.

Oh man that's a long time so we won't hear back until mid March :(

The first batch of acceptance letters went out in December. The staff there is continuously sending out responses. If you're aware that they're more comprehensive in considerations of applications, you should expect a lengthier wait time. Even more so since volume will probably higher than previous years.

Just get all your paperwork in and relax knowing you've done all you can. It's wise to be quick as you will be required to prepare and provide medical credentials upon admittance (the latter is true for any medical program). Good luck!

Hey everyone. I just received my acceptance letter today. They received all my transcripts, TEAS score, and check, making my application complete on January 31st. I live in Michigan so I might have been part of the last wave of acceptances due to slow mail. I'm really excited about attending GBCN, does anyone have any housing suggestions?

Congrats Doc2nurse!! That is a big move. What were your stats if you don't mind sharing?

Yeah no problem. My cumulative GPA is really low, like a 2.5, I have a lot of credits so I don't try and calculate it, lol. I went to college after high school for a couple years and didn't do well, that's what brings my GPA down. I joined the Army and served 5 years as a Healthcare Specialist (Combat Medic), so I have a good amount of medical experience. Took all my prereqs this past couple years and my prereq GPA is 4.0. I took the TEAS in January, my score was a 90.7.

Wow!! regardless of your GPA those are competitive stats and you scored high on your TEAS. Well good luck to you in the program and I hope to see you there.

That's great doc2nurse...I am feeling down but I will pray for the best if it's ment to be I will make it. GOOD LUCK KIERABSN! I think letters go out again next week!

Hello Everyone!

I am interested in the program but I'm nervous! All my prereqs have been completed and my overall GPA at GSU is a 3.28. I know my transfer will be a lot higher, an F in principles in Biology brought me down a lot. I am not sure what my actual GPA is but my prereqs include 9 A's and 8 B's. My TEAS score is a 76.7. AND I have medical experience. The last two years I have been teching for optometrist and ophthalmologist. This has given me a good bit of patient experience and a recent opportunity to cross train as a surgical coordinator. I now get to assist in eye surgeries. I think my essay is coming along, it's pretty personal and it seems to come through. Do you guys think my chances are high?

If you guys don't mind...what are you including in your essays. what are your reasons for pursuing this program and profession?

I GOT IN!! :roflmao: Just got my letter in the mail today. Im so excited I have worked so hard to get here. For everyone else waiting don't give up.

Danielab725 I think your chances are good especially since you have medical experience and they take that into account. I got accepted with no healthcare experience, and for the essay just really spill you heart out of why you want this. My essay was all most three pages, and I put life experiences, hardships, and why Mercer was my first pick. Just be really genuine and you should be good. Good luck!

Congratulations kiEraBSN happy for you.

I'll be applying in the next week or two. I'm almost done with my essay. I hope it works out. Have any of you guys looked up financial aid options. I'm going to pull loans but there will be a deficit. And a bunch of nursing school scholarships require an acceptance letter. Any suggestions to prepare incase I'm accepted?
