Hello!
I am making this thread because I am applying (VERY VERY EARLY) for GBCON! I have spoken with an advisor (******) and have sent my unofficials to her to be evaluated. I dont have the highest overall GPA and I would not like that to determine my acceptance. I am working hard to bring it up the most I can. I am registered to take the TEAS in September so I am currently busting my butt studying for it. I am also working on my essay. I need It to be perfect. The great thing about Mercer is that they dont just worry about your GPA or TEA scores, They look at it all! Even with my low GPA and not having completed AP1/2 or even Microbiology, Abigail still said I will be a competitive nursing applicant because of my work experience (I work at GMCD as a Unit Secretary/ Patient Care Tech in the OR)
I have a full course load this semester and next but the advisor STILL told me to apply ASAP, The earlier the better. The only thing she mentioned was that I would not receive an acceptance letter till my TEAS scores were submitted.
The faculty at GBCON IS AMAZING and so sweet! they answer any and every question you ask!!! Cant wait to hear from anyone who is applying for FALL 2017
So, I'm getting super nervous about the cost of this program. This is a second degree for me and now that I'm accepted, I'm battling with if the cost is worth it or not. I love the school and it was my top choice but it's hard to get scholarships and grant money as a second degree student. I know that they are supposed to be announcing about merit scholarships soon, has anyone heard anything on that? Also, does anyone know of any good local scholarship programs?
@beyondaverage1 Mercer is pretty expensive and I was worried for the cost as well, however after attending orientation I am more comfy with the price. Basically after calculating my costs I will be short about 1200 each semester not including books ouch! but I was given a decent grant and they are still sending out money to our accounts. Plus we have 2 scholarships to apply for one through northiside hospital which is competitive and the other is as well. Also there is a third party loan through the government you can apply for I would reach out to the financial aid director lakeisha she is very helpful and can help you out with all of that. Have you attended orientation yet? They have an whole hour worth of information provided to explain options and they sent a packet for outside scholarships. Hope this helps.
