Hello Everyone,
I am gearing up to apply for Fall 2009 at Georgia Baptist. I wanted to know if anyone else is applying there for Fall 2009 as well, or if there is anyone who has already been accepted and wouldn't mind sharing their credentials (i.e. overall gpa, nursing gpa, science gpa, if all prerequisities were completed, net score etc.) I am just trying to get a feel for the type of applicant they are looking for. Thanks so muc!
Aberndt, I did see that and for a split second it scared me until I saw the IPOD Touch listed. I already have a Touch, so I guess I don't have to fork out the extra $$ to get a PDA (thank goodness!). The Touch and the iPhone look similar, but work a bit differently. The Touch doesn't require a monthly fee for service, as it is WiFi enabled. The catch? If you have no Wifi, you have no internet service. So I can get internet service at hotspots like Starbucks, etc but the moment I get out of range of those hot spots, I can no longer access the internet. I don't have the iPhone (I have Verizon, so it's not available with their cell plans), so I can't talk about the phone, but I love my Touch. I haven't checked into downloading the Nursing Central software yet, so if you find out any details, I'd love to hear them! Good luck...
Adavis,
Thanks for the clarification. I called AT&T and they explained it to me. The iPhone package is $30 a month and the Blackberry package is $35 both have unlimited 3G internet. Both have ample space to hold the nursing software -- especially the iphone which has 8 GB. The iphone is $99 and the Blackberry's are $150-200. For the sake of cost, I'll likely get the iphone. I don't listen to music enough to justify the itouch.
I think the software will be very helpful -- once we get it all figured out. 8-)
Thanks again,
~Angela
Kels83 did they not give u all the loans that is possible if u don't mind me asking, b/c I read on the website that they give 5,000 for sub and unsub loans and up to 4500 for the cancelable loans. Also CSweettooth the price for the IPod Touch is $ 229 and if I'm not mistaken it is the same price as the store.

Neonur25---I think I was not eligible for very much in loans because I already have one bachelor's degree and I had already borrowed quite a bit in federal loans. As for the cancelable loans(which I was really hoping for), this guy in fin aid just told me that GA Baptist awards them to students, but they are limited by what the state has allotted the school. I sent in my packet as soon as I got my acceptance letter(a month ago), hoping it would help me. I will be relocating to Atl, so I will need money to cover living expenses also. We will see! Good luck to everyone else and Congrats to those of you that are newly admitted!

for those starting the program in fall: did you notice the handheld software requirement? i cut/pasted this from the website. i don't have a pda -- i just have a regular cell phone. does this mean we have to buy a pda phone and pay for a monthly data package (it's pricey)? the software cost is added to our tuition, but it sounds like the rest is on us.
georgia baptist college of nursing implemented a technology requirement for all incoming students effective fall 2009. each entering student (for fall 2009 - students enrolled in nur 302 or nur 303) is required to incorporate the nursing central® software from unbound medicine onto a handheld device, such as a personal digital assistant (pda). this provides a direct link to medical reference materials. research supports the use of medical-based software to facilitate safe care of patients. beginning fall semester 2009, course fees will include a subscription to the required software. students may choose either:
palm device – os 5 or later (pda/smartphone)
windows mobile / pocket pc (pda/smartphone)
blackberry smartphone
iphone / ipod touch
