Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2009
Adavis--thanks! I wish you the best of luck with your situation too...I have come too far and overcome too many other obstacles to meet the requirements and be accepted, so I will keep trying! I will probably be attending the August orientation if everything works out. I live in SC right, so I will be relocating to GA as well!

Neonur25---I think I was not eligible for very much in loans because I already have one bachelor's degree and I had already borrowed quite a bit in federal loans. As for the cancelable loans(which I was really hoping for), this guy in fin aid just told me that GA Baptist awards them to students, but they are limited by what the state has allotted the school. I sent in my packet as soon as I got my acceptance letter(a month ago), hoping it would help me. I will be relocating to Atl, so I will need money to cover living expenses also. We will see! Good luck to everyone else and Congrats to those of you that are newly admitted!

wowww....I guess that's a few more hundred $$ in addition to what I already need. I got my financial aid award letter over the weekend...I am worried that I may have to find a way to get private loans to cover everything. I wonder if it's possible to defer your acceptance. ???

wow...I haven't gotten my fin aid award yet, but I'm nervous! I need enough to cover living expenses and I am afraid of getting a private loan. I wonder if the program is flexible enough to allow PT employment.

@ the question about uniforms. I'm not sure about the cost, but the director of admissions told me that we can wait until orientation to order, so that we have a chance to see them first to get an idea of which ones we prefer.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to send an unofficial transcript, but now that you have Spring grades, it's probably better to just wait since you've already signed a release for your current school. I can imagine how antsy you are though...good luck!

I don't know my exact GPA because I had transcripts from 3 schools, but it was probably between a 3.2 and a 3.5 with them all averaged together. My composite on the NET was 87% with a 97 in Math and 76% reading comp. As of last week, I am done with all pre-req's except Nutrition and Abnormal Psych. If you are have lots of courses still unfinished, that's probably what they are waiting for...I was only taking A&P II and Development this past semester. Hope this helps!

Ouch...I've had no luck finding outside scholarships either. I am just praying for a service cancelable loan and whatever federal loans I may still be eligible for to cover living expenses.

Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Fall 2009
I received my acceptance letter about a week ago. It was a pleasant surprise, considering I had been nervous about having to retake the NET. My reading comp was 64% the first time around, so my admissions counselor suggested I try again. I was a little reluctant, because I thought the structure of the test was just not a good way to measure anyone's capabilities. Anyways, I bumped my score up to 76% and obviously, that was the only hold up on my acceptance because they sent the letter as soon as my NET scores from last month came in. So now, I'm just praying that I am able to get fin aid, since this is a second degree for me. I wish everyone luck because it's really nerve wracking, waiting after you had worked so hard taking the pre-req's and all!

I need a online Nutrition class!!!
UGA offers Nutrition online through their independent studies department. You can do things at your own pace. Here's a link: http://www.georgiacenter.uga.edu/idl/courses/offerings/index.phtml I spent a lot of time searching and there are few places in GA. I am in SC at the moment and I registered through a community college. The tuition is cheaper for me because of my residency, but I think it might be close to $300/credit hr. http://yorktech.com The course is listed under Allied Health. One thing I noticed is that some schools list Nutrition under Allied Health vs. Nutrition vs. Biology vs. Nursing. Hope this helps!
