Georgetown Online FNP program

Published

Hi guys,

I'm working on my application for Georgetown's online FNP program and found out that they now have an interview instead of the video essay submission.

Has anyone had an actual interview with one of their Admission Counselors yet? If any, would you please share your experiences? Any tips on acing the interview? :)

Thanks in advance!

I did it recently for CNM/whnp instead of fnp. I kind of wish I had the video set up vs the interview. You log on and they call your phone and you talk on the phone for audio. The admissions counselor has you choose A, B, or C and that's how your questions are chosen. I was told beforehand the first question is the same for everyone and the other 3 are what is random from whichever "bucket" you choose. The admission counselor then goes away and each question pops up on a PowerPoint type slide. When you're done you say next and the next question pops up. Then when you're done the counselor comes back on and you're all set!

Thank you, Callthenavynurse15 for your quick reply! Wow it sounds a little..intense.....:scrying:

Was it similar to a typical job interview questions, in which they ask you about behavioral questions and clinical scenario questions? I hate those 'tell me about a time when.....' type of questions!!! :dead:

And how long did it take for you to answer all questions on the powerpoint slide??

Thanks!

I would definitely say it's more job like vs you walk into a room and find xyz... I really felt they were trying to get a sense of me and my personality even though I was super nervous.

Thank you, Callthenavynurse15! I definitely like the idea of having the video essay instead since you would already have questions given to you beforehand and you could just practice, practice, and practice and you're done :dead:

Would you mind sharing some types of questions that were asked to you during the interview? I really have NO idea of what the 'personality' questions would be like..... would it be something like 'what would your friend say about you?' or 'how do you work under stress/pressure' type of questions? X(

Sorry for bothering too much and thank you for your help! :)

It's been a few weeks so I don't remember them exactly but the first one (which was one I had already read here and kind of expected) was "tell me about yourself". I think that's everyone's first question. They asked me something to the effect of how I handle conflict or disagreement and how I will be able to handle the stress of the program which now really thinking about it I could have answered much better!

Still waiting to go to faculty review which I'm hoping is today and getting really anxious!

Thank you for your help again, Callthenavynurse15!

I'm sure you will get a positive news soon!!!! :) I'm still working on my application and so stressed out already hahaaa:rolleyes:

The admission counselor told me the buckets A, B, and C are pretty much the same. Which one did you choose? I'm just so stressed to the point where I'm nervous about such a simple thing!! such as choosing one out of three buckets! Gahhhhh

I chose C because my daughters name is Charlotte... I was hoping it would give me luck!

Awww that's cute! :)

I was going to choose A with a hope that I could ace my interview! hahaa

I'm sure this waiting period is probably killing you....

Wishing you luck!!!!

It really is! I'm so type A! I'm sitting here like can't it go to faculty already?? I wonder if my app was pushed back and is taking longer because I'm applying for a later cohort. My admissions counselor says they have lots of applications currently to go through. But of course it's all just speculation on my end...

Got the call today... I'm in faculty review! My app went to the coordinator on Monday and moved to faculty today! My admissions counselor said they say to expect a decision in 2-4 weeks but it could realistically be any day!

Are you applying for the September cohort?

They are probably busy with applications for the July Cohort right now, I believe?

Ah.. I think 2-4 weeks is fairly quick to hear back about the decision, but yes, the wait is gonna be nerve-wracking. Anxious! Nervous! Stressful! I feel your pain:scrying:

Let me know if you hear back from them! :)
