Georgetown MSN FNP - May 2014 Cohort

Published

I recently got accepted into Georgetown's FNP program, I will be starting in May 12. Anyone else out there in this same Cohort? I am very excited, but nervous at the same time, I graduated The University of Texas - El Paso this past December. Any information about this program from anyone in it or that has graduated will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

Hi Juliana! I'll be starting in May full time as well! Glad to find a fellow Hoya in our cohort. :-)

Ohhh Hello!! Nice to meet you! = ) Congratulations on getting in!!! I see you live in Cali = ) Im in Texas.

Good luck with the move! My husband is in the Army, and i am a veteran, so I know those moves are a pain! We actually JUST moved to San Antonio, after being in El Paso for 4 years and then in Arizona for 6 months lol. And many other places before that :wideyed:, you know EXACTLY how it is. = ) I am nervous, how are you feeling about school? I also barely got my acceptance letter this week, so im completing all the requirements, background check, vaccinations etc etc :geek: I just do not know where to do my OSHA and HIPPA certifications, i am not sure if they require a specific one from a specific web site, because there are soooo many out there. Did you do yours? Thanks!

Hi Juliana! I also have a BSN from El Paso (g'10). I now live in Oregon, my husband is AD Coast Guard. I'm part of the Jan 2013 FNP (FT) cohort, so I'm actually getting close to starting my final semester. This is a whirlwind experience, filled with more ups than downs. Start trying to adjust to what's to come now, be open with your family and friends about your expectations for the next 18-24 months. You are going to work your butt off, but it's totally worth it. My biggest advice is to get yourself organized. Make a special space in your home where you do your studies. You're going to do great, don't freak out about OCI, they do a great job of preparing you for those. Oh and communicate like crazy with your classmates, they are an integral part of your success.

I saw you asked about OSHA and HIPAA, talk with your student support person (you should be assigned one by now), they will have a link to where you need to do those tests, they recently changed how this is done, so just ask. Love your student support person (they are angels in disguise)... I have called them crying and stressed out, and they have a way of making things better.

Once again, welcome to Georgetown! Maybe I'll see you in a welcome call.

Thank you soooo much!!! Nice to see someone else who graduated UT El Paso = ) Congratulations on almost graduating, that is awesome!! And yes, thanks for the advice, i asked my student support person and she gave me the link .

I will follow your advice, organize myself and make a place in my house for school stuff.

Good luck with your last semester! again congratulations and thank you for the advice . I am nervous but excited.
