  1. Very true Canucks090, Thank you so much for your feedback. You are absolutely right, obviously whatever you got to learn with ANY experience you have had is definitely an advantage, specially when it comes to those assessments and what to recognize. I do have some medical background, not in nursing, but in phlebotomy and laboratory processing, but it has helped with terminology throughout school, and i worked at a family care practice. I am for sure focusing on the positive, like the fact that i just graduated, compared to people that are nervous because the last time they were in school was 5 or 10 years ago, so they are worried about classes like pathophysiology, which is intense to say the least, but i am still in that school mode as you say, and i had to also recently study for the NCLEX also, which i did with the HURST review online, and it was excellent, i learned things that i did not even learn at school, so it is still fresh in my mind. But yes! thank you very much! you give us newbies hope lol. And the fact that they even take new nurses with no experience into the program speaks volumes, because also, what kind of experience is needed? let's say they have 5 years experience, at an ortho floor, compared to 10 year experience at a med surg unit, like who says what is important and what is not. I also have plenty of life experience, even tho' i am pretty young, which has helped in so many ways, also with time management and priority setting, so it is all relative, and everyone is different and works in different ways. Thank you so much for the feedback, i wish you luck in the rest of your program, i will be starting soon, and i am nervous, but SUPER excited.
  2. Hello! My science GPA is 3.94, and my overall is 3.71. I have no experience as a nurse, but i was a phlebotomist for 4 years before joining the Army, so some medical background. I got out of the Army, started school, graduated and then had to move, so no job yet, and i do not think i will work, unless i find some PRN job, so fingers crossed. Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
  3. My e-mail is [email protected], if you just want to e-mail me there = ) this thing does not let me send private messages! Or i don't know how to do it, one of the two lol
  4. Hahahahaha. Yes! That's what i was thinking! Pj's it is. I will not mind hahaha. I have one from 7 to 9pm and another one from 8:30 to 10:30pm, and the other one 9 am to 11am.
  5. Sorry, just saw your other message. I cant use private because im new on this website lol. I actually had a little bit of trouble with my applicant ID, so i barely got it yesterday, and was able to register, So i pretty much registered for whatever class was not extremely late at night and I got assessment in the morning. How about you?. How was the move? i hope it went well! YES! Military life! You gotta love it!
  6. Thank you soooo much!!! Nice to see someone else who graduated UT El Paso = ) Congratulations on almost graduating, that is awesome!! And yes, thanks for the advice, i asked my student support person and she gave me the link . I will follow your advice, organize myself and make a place in my house for school stuff. Good luck with your last semester! again congratulations and thank you for the advice . I am nervous but excited.
  7. Yayyyyy!!! Congratulations! Doesn't it feel awesome!!! = )
  8. Good luck with the move! My husband is in the Army, and i am a veteran, so I know those moves are a pain! We actually JUST moved to San Antonio, after being in El Paso for 4 years and then in Arizona for 6 months lol. And many other places before that , you know EXACTLY how it is. = ) I am nervous, how are you feeling about school? I also barely got my acceptance letter this week, so im completing all the requirements, background check, vaccinations etc etc I just do not know where to do my OSHA and HIPPA certifications, i am not sure if they require a specific one from a specific web site, because there are soooo many out there. Did you do yours? Thanks!
  9. Hello daverean, i will also be attending full time in May 2014 cohort! Nice to meet you!
  10. Ohhh Hello!! Nice to meet you! = ) Congratulations on getting in!!! I see you live in Cali = ) Im in Texas.
  11. It took exactly 10 working days, i got the letter this past tuesday. And yes, it looks like they were working on the May applications = ) hang in there! = ) Im sure you will hear soon, good luck and let me know how it goes
  12. It makes me happy to hear someone talking positive about GU! = D i am starting in May and i could not be happier! I do understand that different people have different circumstances and perspective. I am full time and will not be working, but i am also a new nurse, i have 4 year experience as a Phlebotomist both inpatient and out at a family practice, but no nursing experience, other than school at UT El Paso. Any advice for this baby nurse starting the FNP program? Thank you!!!
  13. hello, I got accepted for the May 2014 full time cohort. I have not started yet so i can not tell you how the classes are, i have heard good and bad, but isnt that how everything in life is, depends on the perspective. My GPA is a 3.71 from UT El Paso, I have heard more positive than negative, and Georgetown is a very prestigious University, so give it a try = ) Good luck!
  14. I got accepted for the May cohort also, are you full time?
  15. Hello Davesbride! How is school going? I will be starting May 12, full time! A lot nervous but, super excited! Did you switch to full time?
