Yes I took the Gentiva test and although I was not offered a position, I did pass the test with a minimum score of 70 which is needed to pass. I'll be honest , I thought the test was challenging almost like the nursing school exam questions. You will be asked about different medications, drug calculations and different scenerios r/t prioritizing. I wish you the best and just believe in your self that you can do it!!!!!

I took it too, although its been about 9 years. I think comparing it to nursing school exams is right on the nose, although that was twice as long ago.
Look over some of the common meds, procedure, safety issues, infection control and drug conversion (I hate those) and you will do fine.
BTW, I LOVED working for Gentiva. I worked full time with them for 4 years and part time for another year. I started out doing home visits (several per day), but then worked home care shifts. As my kids got to be school aged I transitioned into school nursing because the branch I worked for was phasing out their home care shifts and wasn't able to make the mandatory weekly team meetings for the home visit "side".

I took the test in Dec 2010 . To be honest I scored 94% on it. Yes it is very similar to nursing test but I found it to be simple. Don't worry, I was nervous too! On a lighter note I loved working for Gentiva as a home health nurse. I moved to another state so had to give up the job that I loved. Good luck you can do it
Oh, WOW! Thanks! On my way to take it now!
I actually decided to take the job with Gentiva; and so far, have had an excellent experience. I really wanted to stay in hospice, and have had a recent offer from a hospice organization, so I am not sure what I will end up doing. I can say, so far....Gentiva seems to be an excellent company to work for. The orientation is very elaborate...which to me, is a good thing. In the past, I have worked for companys that considered watching 5-6 videos as "orientation". I especially like Gentiva University. It's very important to me to work for an organization who values education. The compensation is a bit odd (being paid by the visit), but you are also compensated for documentation (non-patient contact hours), also. The benefit package is OUTSTANDING, which also speaks volumes.
I will keep everyone up to date as to my personal experience with this company. SO far, so good. Even though I REALLY wanted to stay in hospice, Gentiva has been so welcoming and awesome ------ I may stay with them just because of the way they treat their employees.

Hi,
Do you like it working for them? I'm curious. I live in Miami, FL and I'm thinking of applying for a job with them, what do you recommend?

Did they do a pre-employment drug screen at gentiva? I have another post about this but no replies yet. I am not asking for myself, as I have worked there for several years. I cannot remember for sure if I did one. I ask due to 2 new employees that claim they had no pre-employment drug test, and I think one of them is using. Why wpuld a large company like gentiva not test their nursing prior to hiring? Doesnt make any sense to me. Anyone know about this?
I worked for them a few years ago and was shocked to find out they don't drug screen (pre-employment or during employment unless you have an accident). They do a background check though, because it's required (medicare/medicaid)
You ask..... why? To save $$$ in my opinion. Sadly....
I thought it should be brought out in the open. Not good practice in my opinion.
I only worked for Gentiva about a month....went back to hospice...my first and only love....
I cant believe they dont! I couldnt remember for sure if I ever did one aonce its been a while. Doesnt seem very smart since I know quit a few nurses thay use various drugs. Thats just crazy. U wpuld think a big compaby like that would for sure. Ive never worked anywhere as a nurse that didn't give them
