Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone applied to Genesis Healthcare Nurse Residency Program schedule for May 2010 and if you heard anything back from them yet? Also, can anyone shed some light about this facility... such as nursing salary per hour, schedule/hrs: 8 or 12hr shifts, opportunity of gaining various certifications, etc.... Thank you for any information....

I was selected for the program. Unfortunately, I dont have the answers to your questions. I am curious myself. Currently, I am awaiting the offer letter in the mail, which is suppose to have all of the details. If anyone can shed light on the topic, it would be graetly appreciated!

May I know what are the requirements for Genesis Healthcare Nurse Residency Program?
I personally wasn't told of any set requirements. The only thing I was told that they were looking for someone who has a BSN Degree, and great customer service. Genesis is big on customer service.... Thats basically it. Hopefully someone else can elaborate more on this?:)
Also, I was told by the DON that this is their 2nd time doing this type of program... It's new for them and it's working well. the Program is 8 weeks... I will find out more info during orientation next week. I will let you know more about it.:)

So Bariq - how'd it go?? Are you loving where you work now?? I'm hoping that you like it and that there are no negatives about the facility itself.
Hi Deadhead 219...
I am absoluetly loving the Residency Program.... I have learned sooooooooooooo much & Genesis Healthcare has taking the time to teach what we need to know with care..... i had the opportunity to train on the Vent Unit, short stay unit, dementia unit and also a Russian type unit as well. Wow what an experience that I've had in the past 8 weeks.:yelclap: The one that I am currently involved with lasts for 1 year. I am incredibly grateful for this Program. They are starting up a new one in August 2010.

I was accepted into the September New Grad Residency and I'm excited and nervous! How is training go for you now? Are you in LTC or a skilled facility?
I am currently working in at a SNF on a progressive short stay unit. I absolutely love it. I am learning and doing alot. Working with IV's, PIIC lines, Wound Vacs, etc... It's just like being on a MedSurge Floor.... I have been at Genesis for 3months now and its great:)

:) I start my new grad residency tomorrow in Nj. So far it looks really organized and looks like we will get to learn a lot. We get our schedule tomorrow so I can post it so you guys get a idea of what they do. Right now with the new grad market being what it is you guys might want to look into it.
I have a question for the one girl who already did the program......how many patient do you have per shift? So far that's the only thing I'm nervous about.
