I am currently a pre-nursing student at Cal State Fullerton. I'm trying to figure out a back up plan if I don't get into the nursing program when I apply. I'm thinking about getting a bachelors degree in health science then applying to an accelerated BSN program. However I'm wondering if that's even a good option. Are accelerated programs equally as competitive? Harder? Or easier to get into? Any information would help! Thank you

For the limited number of programs I have any experience with, the accelerated programs are (significantly) more competitive and rigorous than "regular" BSN programs.

Obtaining a bachelor's degree will make you ineligible for some types of financial aid because they are limited to pre-degree students. If your goal is a BSN, it is a waste of time and $ to obtain a degree that is essentially worthless in terms of employment potential.
