Usually there are classroom hours and then clinical hours.

Our classroom times are Monday and Wednesday from 0830-1145 and our clincal hours are Thursday and Friday from 0645-1300. You might want to ask someone who is in the class ahead of you how they work it, or an instructor. I always found that when I asked someone who was ahead of me I got pretty accurate info. Not sure if your school does it this way, but we have a printed guide for all the classes each semester, that we refer to when scheduling (the new computer system stinks :rolleyes: )

anyway, I used this to plan out my semesters...I was a little obsessive :chuckle but with a little one you kind of have to be! I was able to get an idea of how long class/clinical times were for the classes and I was able to get an idea of how much time I'd have for work etc & the times really haven't changed much over the semesters. So it's a good way to get an idea--seeing things in print helps me work them around in my head!

So different here!

My students come to school from Sept- Dec. 800- 1630, Mo- Fr

Then they go to the wards from Jan- Apr, working 8 hours a day.

After that they have 6 weeks more school, then 4 weeks vacation and they start on the ward again. and so on. So in their 2. and 3. year the weeks of school and practical work, stay the same, times are a bit different of course, so we don't have all the classes at the same time, or have to go to the wards all at the same time.

We have a 40 hours week here.

for fundamentals lecture for me is on mondays and we all have different lab/clinical days. mine are tues and wed for this semester (8-11). we start our clinical rotation next tuesday.

health assessment for me is on tuesdays/lab

pharmacology/lab on tuesday.

i have two other classes that are non-nursing on tues and thurs.

Interesting Renee, sounds like your students are very prepared when the reach their clinical time having finished their classroom work first :) I think I'd kind of like that!

I am in class Tues and thurs nights from 5-9 then everyother Sat and Sun from 7-3 for clinicals. But we go Aug - Dec and jan - June we go almost a month longer than the day group...
