depends on the school. Mine was done on a point system. Better grades= higher points. Any degree in the medical field, CNA, EMT... only gave the applicant one extra point towrds acceptance. A care givers course would have yeilded no points.

Check with the school you want to apply to. If this is your third attempt, I would be looking into what has prevented your acceptanc before. Maybe you need to re take a pre req and improve your grade/chances

I agree that it depends on your school. I know that some schools require CPR/First Aid before petitioning in...in fact our school even requires you to take the CNA course before starting. Doesn't matter if you are already a CNA - if you can't pass check offs, you are required to take the course. Check to see how admissions work at your school and plan accordingly. Good luck!!!

As the other posters have suggested, it depends on the school. My school gives no points for CPR/First Aid.

If you really want to know what will give you an edge in the application process, you need to contact a counselor and find out exactly what is expected of you as an applicant. Then ask him/her if there are any factors that are weighed heavier then others. Sometimes EMTs and CNAs have an edge over people who have NO health care experience and sometimes they do not. At my school, an extra edge is given to people who have completed all of his/her co-requisite courses. So people who are only finished with pre-requisites are flat out of luck.

Thanks for you input.
