Just wondering what everyones grades were in the prereq's??? Micro, Chem, Anat, etc..........I feel like everyone getting in must be straight A students, its sooooo competitive. Of course I live in California where everything is super competitive. Just hoping to hear from some of you guys on this!

I was reading this because I was interested too in what kinds of grades everyone has.... I personally have a 4.0 BUT don't let that freak you out. I know of lots of people with 3.5's (or in that neighborhood) that are getting in the GPA based admittance program here. I'm in California too and the program I applied to is GPA based... of course there are still some lottery type programs out there too.

Specializes in PCU/TELE.

Pre-req's Eng111 & 112 both A, Gen psych & Dev psych, both A, music (humanity) A.

1st Semester- Nursing I B, Nutrition B, A&PI A

2nd semester so far Nursing II B, Gerontology B, A&PII A

I had a 4.0 when I got in on the first try. My school only accepts academic qualifications each year, there are no waiting lists. Pretty competitive 300+ applicants for 50 spots.

When i first started my nursing program last year I had a GPA of 3.3 these were A&P, micro and all the prereqs and general ed classes. I find that GPA is not everything. I've been getting B's and A's in all my classes while in the program. I've seen people with 4.0 come and go in my program, In the end weere all RN's. In my program almost all the A students are moved down to B's. Mainly because of work and all the clinical days and endless reading they give us. I hope no body feels bad about getting C's in your nursing classes, because I find that some of the best nurse's on the floor told me they got C's during their program.

I noticed most of you only posted one Chem class for your pre-reqs. At my school we have to take Chem 6A(intro to general) and 6B(intro to organic) as pre-reqs so I was just curious about how your schools do it? Do you do it after you get in the nursing program or are your chem classes both general and organic chem combined or is it just one chem class?

I have a 4.0 in all of my prereqs, but...

The first time I went to college, for 2.5 years starting in 1979, I majored in in well, I probably shouldn't say. Anyway, when those grades from 26 years ago are factored in it's like a 2.98.

When I began to apply to nursing programs, I had to send them those horrid transcripts, it was SOOO embarrassing. :uhoh3:

But alls well that ends well, and I am starting Johns Hopkins this fall.

:balloons:

Had straight A's in all my prereqs(science and non-science).

1st semester nursing: A & B

2nd semester nursing: strong A so far.

Stop right there! Don't worry about what other people are getting or you're going to drive yourself crazy. Someone is always going to score higher then you & you're always going to score higher then someone else.

Study your butt off for each exam (and not just the night before the exam). Research things you hear about & don't know (even if it's not related to the weekly class topic). Ask questions. Learn from what you've gotten wrong so you don't make the same mistake. Have fun.

Remember an A+ on a grade report doesn't always mean the person can put that knowledge into action when it's necessary. And if they can, then grab them as a study partner!

Your classes get more difficult - but it's DEFINITELY worth it so stick with it. Best of luck!

Wow. Two chemistry classes? At my college, chemistry isn't even required for entry into the nursing program, although it's "recommended." I don't think I could do well in chemistry, since I didn't like it in high school.
