Hello to all! Okay I guess you could say that I am over feeling overwhelmed from the first week of nursing school:eek: . Now I am concerned with the first test. It's this Wednesday at 11. Can anyone tell me about how the tests are? I am reading all of my chapters (and I do mean ALL) how should I get ready for my test? What can I expect? Please give me some helpful advice!!! Thanks! :chair:

hi mel, are you referring to your first test in nursing fundamentals? :)

OK, what is the test over? that would be helpful info. Tex

okay, our class is set up to where we have fundamentals, med/surg., pharm., all of it combined into one!! That's why I found it so overwhelming!!! Majority of the stuff on the test is on infection control, activity and safety, and hygiene.

hi, mel

use the cd or disk in the back of your fundamentals of nursing book to answer the questions on the different components you have mentioned above.

you may also use your nclex-rn book by going to those paticular sections and also use your study guide book for fundamentals.

taking your notes or those items you have noted in your book and make up questions from them, will help too.

Hi I have my first test Monday so far this weekend I have studied over12 hours. Since its the first test I dont want to under study. I have a study group and that is really helping me. If I cant figgure out something someone else usually can. I will let you know how the test goes. Wish me luck. Better get back to the books.

P.S. my test is on Fundamentals of Nursing: Chapters 1,2,4,5,6,20,21,33 & 37.

What ever that your nursing instructors stressed and possibly pause while they were lecturing you. Hope you taped your lectures. 12 hrs sounds correct for a study session, add 2 more sessions, then you got it. Tex

Hey Ginger! Let me know how the test goes!! God bless you- All of those chapters...but at least you guys stay in the same book!! We are all over the place with different books to look in for our first test! YIKES!!! Good luck to you tomorrow and please let me know how it goes! Thanks! Oh, by the way, I see you are from NC. Where from? What school are you attending?

Oh my goodness Ginger!!!! I hope they were short chapters! Good Luck!!! :)

Good luck Mel! I have an exam tomorrow (on our first day!!!) All they told us was that it is going to be on A&P. I'm just going over my old notes, trying to refresh my memory.

Let us know how it goes:)

if they use a test bank then your test will friggin suck!!!!

if the teacher uses her /his brain and writes their own questions then it may be good....

the problem with nursing tests is that you can know the material backwards and forwards, but you need an analytical mind to figure some of the shit out ..the tests basically bite and the reason they give then to you is they say this way they are getting you ready for NCLEX...guess that is so as our college has >90% pass rate for NCLEX.....i still think the tests suck and 10% of the class each semester fails out because of them....

with practice though you can get used to them...out of 5 tests last semester 3 of mine were A's....low A's....but keep pluggin away, that's what we all do...
