Nursing Students General Students

Published

I was reading in the General Discussion BB, where one of the regulars asked everyone to tell us a little bit about themselves. It is a great idea! We are mostly students in here, and we need to get a little background on each other, instead of just the regular whining that we seem to do! I will start. My name is Angie and I am about to beging my third and final year of nursing school. I live in Canada, but plan on relocating to Florida soon after writing my RN's. I have three children. Two boys (5 & 3) , and a little girl (2months). I had my daughter in the last three weeks of second year. Yeesh! My husband is fantastic and has stuck with me for the last ten years. I figure if he sticks around while I am in school....then we are doing all right! When I graduate....I wanna new navy blue Jetta!

Let's get to know each other a little better. Cheers!

Hi every1,

My name is Cheri, I live in deep south Texas, I have a 10-year old son and an going to celebrate my 11th anniversary to my dh next Sat. I just received my letter of acceptance to the ADN program here, yesterday!! I finished my pre-req. classes this spring, so have had the summer off, atleast from school anyway!! I am looking forward to getting to know y'all better ;)

Hi, I'm Robert, 33, 11 months from graduation in an ADN program. Already have a BS in HR & Bible. Want to do CCU or Trauma for 3 years and then go to CRNA school. I have a wife who has been an RN for 10 years. Three great kids, Girl (7), Boy (5), and Girl (2). In my last life I was a professional youth minister (8.5 years) but I got burned out and didn't want to be a "REAL" pastor. :)

HI-

My name is Deirdre. I'm 27, soon to be 28 in July. I'm married and have a 5 year old daughter. I attended a year of nursing school about one year ago and decided not to go back for my second year. I was attending a weekend program and it got to be too stressful being away from my husband and daughter every weekend. Anyway, I decided to take this last year off and spend with my daughter who will be starting kindergarten in the Fall. It was the best decision I could have made for my family. I've been accepted as a transfer student for the ADN program at a community college in dallas. I'm eager to return to school and get on with what I've wanted to do for a very long time. Anyway, good luck to everyone!

Hello. My name is Marlita, and I will be starting an ADN nursing program in august. I am very excited and nervous to be starting the nursing program because I don't know what to expect. I know the program is going to require a lot of outside classroom time to prepare for lecture and clinicals. I am current working in a hospital as a CNA gaining some experience to help out in the long run when clinicals come around. After reading the board I will definitely be checking in from time to time to ask for advice or give some when necessary. I want to congratulate of you who are planning on prusuing nursing. I believe nurses should receive more credit for the service they provide to patients and their families. Nursing has a couple things in common with teacher they are both underpaid and not appreciated the way they should be. This two reasons are proably the key factors toward the nursing shortage. I just want to add my thoughts to the list.

Thank you :p

My name is Brandy,

I am 21 years old (22 in September), and I am a senior at Truman State University in Kirksville Missouri. In May 2002 I will be graduating with my BSN and I plan to specialize in Trauma. My favorite area of nursing is critical care, as i feel that the constant changes keeps me on my toes. I live with my fiance Kevin, but he just moved in in May (he just graduated from Western Illinois University with a degree in Agri-Business) so he has no idea what he has gotten himself into.

I tend to be very opinionated, so please, no one take offense to my posts! :)

if you use AOL instant messenger, my screen name is BrandyBSN

Its great to be able to discuss issues with students from all areas of the globe!

Hi, I am 29 yrs old from Pittsburgh, PA. I am single with no children; although I have a 4 year old cat who's nothing but trouble.

I will be starting my pre-reqs for nursing school in August 2001 and hope to transfer into a BSN program in Philadelphia next fall. I have a BA already so this will be a second degree for me. I have several years of experience in health insurance so I know alittle bit about healthcare already.

I decided to go to nursing school after going through a messy breakup last summer with my fiance. I am so happy to be able to have a "second" chance.

Good luck everyone!!!

hi, my name is raquel, and i've just started my pre-req's. i'm really excited! i am 26 years old, and married with 4 children. i have a 7 year old son, 3 year old twin girls, and a 5 mo. old girl.

i actually wanted to be a nurse practitioner, because of how sick i became during my last pregnancy, and i was also tired of missing out on my children's days working 5 days a week (here, rn's work (3) 12 hr shifts per week). after talking with my own nurse practitioner, she suggested that i start with becoming an rn first. now i'm hooked! for now, my main goal is to become an rn, and once i have a few years under my belt, i'll be ready to pursue my dream of nurse practitioner.

i was worried that i was starting too late, but i'm glad to see that is not the case.:D

Hi! I'm 22 and from Memphis. I am married and have a 2 year old son (who keeps me on the run). I am in the BSN program at the University of Memphis. When my son was born, I slowed down on my classes, so I just finished all of my pre-reqs. Last semester I was able to take pathophysiology, pharmacology, and health assessment. But I will be starting my *hands on* nursing classes this fall (yippee!!).

Wow...a lot of moms in this group. Good to see that us women are persuing a life after children. I am in the 30 something group..have three kids under the age of 6 (a set of twins to boot). I am in my second year..I just finished all my pre reqs and will begin my clinicals and actual nursing classes in Jan. i cannot wait. The classes up to this point have been fun and interesting. I have always wanted to be a nurse but never pursued it. I decided to to go for it after my dad fell ill with copd and died. While I sat in his hospital room...I got the calling again..big time. So..the day after his death..I went to the campus and transfered my old college credits and began my journey. I applaud all of you here..especially us moms..for taking on such a challlenging career. Good luck to you all..

:D

Hello everyone! I just found this discussion board! I'm 34 yo, married for 15 yrs and I have three kids under my feet (13 yo son, 11 yo daughter, 11 yo niece)--oh and one very stuck-up cat!! ;-) I currently hold a BS in Meteorology and I'm returning to school in August for the ADN program. I had always wanted to do weather and nursing-----so I'm doing both!!

Specializes in Perinatal/neonatal.

Geez, I feel so at home here. Do ya mind if I kick off my shoes and stay awhile? I guess you know that my name is Angie (Did NurseAngie give it away???) and I'm almost 29. I have been married for ten years to a US sailor and we have two awesome boys. Alex is nine and Jared is six. I've lived lots of different places and Italy is home for right now. I'm a LPN and have been since '98. I am returning to the classroom in January to earn an ADN. I will be a geographic bachelorette since the Navy believes that sailors belong at sea. (where did they ever get a crazy idea like that??) Anyway, I do lots of volunteer work here and I love nursing. It's a real adventure. I really admire anyone who follows their dreams. Mine are a reality. I am blessed and happy to be here. Ciao for now!
