Stethoscope advice...

I need to buy a stethoscope for school/clinicals, but am having trouble deciding which one to buy. I definitely want a Littman, and have narrowed my choices down to the Cardiology III and the Master Cardiology. I even toyed with the idea of the electronic model because I have heard about it's amazing acoustics, but it's about $100 more than the other scopes.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have the Master Cardiology and I personally love it

I bought a Littman Master Cardiology and LOVE it. I have had cheap stethoscopes, but this one sounds so crystal clear. I bought it off of ebay for $115, which was a steal. It came with the CD, extra ear pieces, name tag, and warranty. It was brand new. Make sure if you go this route that you only buy from someone who has lots of positive feedback. If you can get the Master Cardiology for the same price or less than the Cardiology III I would definitely go that route. Either one is a good choice, looks like you have already done some research. My husband said he would buy me an electronic Littman for graduation. :wink2:

I have the Cardiology III and I love it as well! Very comfortable, lightweight, and acoustics are fantastic! Both of these stethoscopes are very, very good....you will not regret your purchase.

I have Cardio III. Best friend has Master Cardio and I can't hear a thing out of it. You should stop by your local uniform shop and see which one you have better luck with.

I say get whatever you like the best - you are the one having to use it! I have a $40 and it works great for me! For school they told us to get a farily cheap one because some (esp. the nicer ones) have a tendency to walk off. I got the $40 one for school, and when I graduate Im going to get a Littman.

If you put "stethoscope" in the allnurses search box, you'll find dozens of threads that ask the identical question. Look through those :)

Thanks everyone for your advice - I wound up going with the Master Cardiology :)

*RNsRWe - sorry, didn't think of using the search box (still a newbie here!)

I see you already have your steth, and I hope it's what you wanted.

I cringe when I see the money spent on these things. I bought a Sprague-Type Rappaport steth for $7.50 and it's superb. My classmates like mine better than theirs. Our instructor loves it. I love it.

And it loves me, too.
