Yes, we do. We spent 6 weeks at a children's hospital here. I really enjoyed it and may want to someday work in a pediatric unit some day. In this rotation we also got to experience pediatric ICU and the Neonatal ICU. Good luck with your rotation!! :)
It endend up being 80 hours in a general peds hospital, 8 hours in NICU and 8 hours in PICU. Hope this helps you!
We also had 8 weeks at a children's hospital...usually half of our group (~4ppl) would rotate to different parts of the hospital (ED, PICU, NICU, hem-onc clinic, rehab) while the rest of us were with our instructor on a med/surg floor, the hem-onc unit, or transitional care. It was a great experience, so cool that I quit my job at an adult hospital and got a job there while I finish up school! :) I think I may have now found my calling!
I don't have any kids yet and many ppl don't understand how I can work there but they're KIDS...so sweet and innocent...and most of them do get better. I rotated out to NICU one day and bawled my eyes out when I left that day (my nurse told me her pt (23.5 weeker)was going to die that day and I pretty much watched him deteriorate all morning long...never had a desire to step foot back in there...but anywhere else in the hospital and I had a great time.

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how many of you have a specific pedi clinical in your program. We do ours at the local Children's hospital but I know not all areas have access to these types of facilities.
