Longest week of my LIFE...

Nursing Students General Students

Wow. I just finished my first week in my first semester of really-truly-honesttogoodness nursing school, and all I can say is......*SNORE*

Sorry 'bout that. Must have dozed off. :D

This has felt like the longest week of my life, but its so cool to have already begun developing friendships and good working relationships with the other 29 lunatics that, like me, were crazy enough to WILLINGLY subject ourselves to the unknowns of the next 2 years.

We have our first check off next Wednesday over vital signs and, with my boyfriend's help, have finally found a blood pressure. Hallelujah, praise God! Not quite as stressed now. But anyway...

For yall out there that are in my same boat, I'd love to hear how yall's first week (or first week back) went. Let's all share cuz misery loves company! :roll

I am not in the same boat as you as this is my second semester. I do want to say good luck to you and it the toughest program you'll ever love ( I am sure that's from a comercial somewhere)

Aimee too funny. Hopefully the more interaction will make it less boring for you.

I start school on Monday (20th) so I will let ya'll know how it went. I am still doing pre-reqs so that is not too interesting.

Good luck for the rest of the semester

Just finished 3 days of orientation and I am pooped already!!! Next week is my first full week which will include lab and clinicals(even though our first lab won't be at the hospital we will do them in the skills lab) Got my reading for the next two week and I am like how in the....heck am I going to get all of this done. Good luck on week 2 and I will let you know how my first week goes if I can still find a free minute....lol...

Yeah! Good for you! Good luck with the rest of the semester.

I am doing the same....counting the weeks I've survived....2 down, manyyyyyyy more to go. We have checkoffs next week for hand washing, vital signs & the full physical assessment. I'm nervous!!!! I've got the actual tasks downpat, but we have to speak our way through the entire thing & sometimes I forget the actual wording....like perrla or dorsiflexion, etc. Practice, practice, practice!

Am looking forward to having Monday off---the only vacation day we get off besides Spring Break in March (counting the weeks until I reach that point also...7 to go!!) I am so glad we only have class 3 days a week & once clinicals start (after spring break)....we'll only have class 1 day week.

I had my first test last Monday & scored an 88...I am happy with that. Have another two tests coming up the week after next. Papers are due, projects are due......there's always something to do.

Good luck to the rest of you!!!!!

Hey Aimee......Move over.....You're on my pillow!!!! ;)

I just finished my first full week, also.....and I, too, am EXHAUSTED!!! I'm also in complete AWE of everything that I have learned in such a SHORT amouont of time!!! WOW!! They really like to cram in it FAST!! LOL

We had our 1st test today, as well as our 1st skills assessment. Talk about stress!!! I did very well though...I got an A on the test, and I got a perfect score on the assessment. I was SOOOO nervous about it, though. My partner must have been too...I went first, and her BP was 156/94 and her pulse was 96!!!  :roll

One word of advice....don't stress out over the skills tests. If you are prepared, it really isn't as "difficult" as we make it out to be in our minds. When I was done, I could have kicked myself for freaking out so much! LOL

Oh....wake me up at 6 am on Monday...I plan to sleep until then. ;)

Lol...........good job Christine. That was a high bp....I'm wondering what mine will be next week. I sort of wish it was just one assessment at a time....ours is all 3 & we have 30 minutes to get through it & then chart it. Oh well, practice, practice, practice!

Oh man--this is bad. I'm attempting to get some of my reading assignments for next week out of the way, but the only words that get read are the ones I can skim while the next thread is loading! One of these days I AM going to start up an Allnurses Anonymous, I'm telling you...

Nooooo! No ANA please! :chuckle

I too am 'coming down' from my first big week, and exhausted with headache. I'm trying to convince myself that surfing All Nurses is a good thing to be doing right now, stress reliever ya know. Despite the fact that I've got a whole weekend full of homework waiting for me. *sigh*

You guys are scaring me! My first day (2nd semester) is the 27th...are you saying I won't have time for Allnurses?!?! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't give it up...must...have....threads....can't....read...textbooks!

I'll have to update you on my "mental status" after classes get goin'! I'm going from 5 total clinical days to 2 everyweek!!! that's 30 in the semester vs. 5!!! Major increase!!!

Just finished 2nd week here......1st we only had one day and it was mostly orientation stuff, but WOW.........so much thrown at you all at once.........the reading is enormous.......it is scary......I think my new theme song is going to be.."I will survive"....I hope, lol
