Jealous? Friends

Hello,

I am in my second year of college, I am almost done with prereqs for the BSN program. I have a group of 3 friends who I am close with. However, I seem to always make better grades than everyone in the group. It doesn't make me better, it's just a fact. They seem to have changed in how they treat me. It's almost as if they don't like me anymore. I never try to brag and I offer to help them whenever they need it. It just seems that I'm the only one who ever comes to study "groups" or does the work. I get called a know it all and I feel like I have to dumb myself down or not speak up in class so I don't seem like a nerd. I know it's silly but I'm just trying to be honest. I dont want to lose them and be alone. I want to help them because they're my friends but it's taking a toll on me. I feel like I HAVE to pull them through with me. Has anyone had similar experiences or any suggestions on what to do?

I would not let anyone drag me down. Be yourself and your best - everything else will fall in place. If they are good friends, they will support you and motivate you. If not, well, they are not good friends then.

I'd distance myself from them for now, stay cordial, but focus on making new friends with similar academic goals/work ethic. Some people's way of dealing with insecurities is to attempt to bring everyone else down with them. Just accept that's how they've chosen to cope with it and move along.

If you value their friendship, it may be time for a heart to heart discussion. I'd choose the one I felt closest to and let them know that I felt some distance forming and wanted to talk about it. It may have absolutely nothing to do with your grades or study habits. Don't make that assumption. They don't make the exact same grades as each other, after all.

Just get in your nursing program.
