How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.

I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Care to share?

I'm Maria, mom of four, remarried to a great supportive guy. I've had a miscarriage (7 weeks) and carried my fourth baby to full term where she died nine minutes after birth from anencephaly (discovered at 14 weeks gestation). After that - I can survive anything thrown my way.

Going back to school to get my ASN. Finishing prereqs this fall (9 credits) and hope to be accepted into the program this comin JAN. I'm a First Responder - Ambulance in a rural town (just passed state test in Feb) My mom always said I should be a RN and now I'm finally listening to her advice.

we have to move 400 miles but I'll be closer to my other kids. It took God's help to find a rental that would accept our pets and I'll have an 80 mile Round trip commute but...I guess I really want to be a RN.

I appreciate this board so much as I will be a student again. Thanks to the moderators for their time and effort. I know time is valuable and unpaid out here. my gratitude, Maria

Hey Maria, welcome to the board. I am so sorry for the loss of your babies, I can't imagine how difficult that must have been for you. You will definitely find this board a great support system in the months to come while you are in school. Take care and again welcome!:D

Specializes in Emergency Nursing...Yay!!.

Hello All,

My name is Tammy. I am a 40 year old mom with 1 nineteen year old son. He was actually a twin, but one did not survive. After that pregnancy I was advised not to have any more children.

Not long after my sons birth I became a single mom. I have spent the last 18 years working in restaurants and raising my son.

During my last few years in the business I started managing a restaurant. I started putting some money away a little at a time and in October of 2001 I quit my job and started college for the first time. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I finished all of my pre-reqs and have been accepted into an ADN program that starts in August.

I have spent many a night reading through postings on this sight. There is such a sense of community here that I enjoy very much. Good luck to everyone and take care.

Michelle - Thanks for your reply. The only thing I wanted people to say while I was carrying my daughter or afterwards was "I'm sorry". That's all you can say. (She would have been 10 on May 10th.)

Tammy - I have such respect for single Moms! Good for you. I was a single mom of four little ones and was terified. You'll make a great nurse!!!

Hi to everyone else - I look forward to getting to know you...getting to know all about you..(music) sorry:chuckle

back to packing .....

(edited because I swear I typed it right but my evil keyboard changed the spelling on a couple words and then hit submit before I could notice they were mispelled and do anything about it - yeah, that's it!)

Hello to All!

My Name is Kay and I will be 19 next Monday (yea Cancer babies rule! :biggringi )

Thanks all - I am loving it!

I have been wanting this for years but was never able to go for it (Couldn't quit my job and support a family - Had to place them before myself even though this is what I was meant to do)
