How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Well - I was told a TRUE lady never reveals her age....but in this case I'll make an exception - 39 and heading into a CC to finish pre reqs to hopefully get my ASN....80 applied, 40 taken. yikes - 4.0 = 11, lowest taken was a 3.0 I'm going in with a 3.4 but any advice on how to survive A&P I? thanks, babies! (Leo Babies Rule the School!)
Hi All!
I kinda sorta introduced myself on a previous thread but will make it official here!
Hi my name is Jennifer. I am a soon-to-be Nursing Student! I currently live in Texas but will be relocating next month to finish up me pre-reqs and hopefully enter an ADN program by Fall 2004.
Non nursing stuff? I'm 39 years old, have never married and have no children. It kinda sucks being single at this age, but here I am! Before I decided to go for my ADN I was really dreading turning 40! 40 always seemed like the end of the road, but luckily I remain youthful in attitude, spirit, and sometimes body! People are usually surprised when they find out how old I am, but I am sure my new profession will help accelerate the aging process! My feet hurt just thinking about it!
What else? Well I worked a really boring office type job forever. Before that a brief stint in the radio business. My most recent job was as a self-employed eBay PowerSeller. Hobbies and interests include photography, painting, music, nature, dogs, browsing used bookstores, flea markets, roadtrips, clubbing, and just spending time with friends or family. I'm usually a good listener and sometimes have a wacky sense of humor!
Why I will make a good nurse? I think the main reason is because I am an extremely sympathetic and compassionate human being. I'm more concerned with cramming so much information in my little brain in such a short period of time than any of the physical aspects of the job. Am I smart enough? I think so!
Anyway....that's my official intro!
Luv2quilt -
I don't know if I'll have to dissect anything in the lab. (School starts Aug 27th - stay tuned!)
It's been a long time since I've done that but no worries....not afraid of anything except a seven foot earwig and I've never seen one...yet.:chuckle :chuckle
Thank you for the feedback on A&P - appreciate it.
Hi, Karen here. I'm 46 yrs. old with 2 more semesters of ADN program to go. Just finished the last of support classes last week (Sociology and the dreaded Comm. Skills II.) and have 6 more weeks to get my pigsty of a house in order. I think any Nursing student can relate to that, LOL. Just received the fall syllabus also, so may get started on reading also, since will entail pathophysiological problems and lots of memory work, labs and all. Anyway, just wanted to say, "Hi to you all, love this site!"
Hi everybody! I'm a single 32 year old just starting out on the road into the medical field.
First time around I got myself a BS in chemistry, and by the end of my schooling I realized I didn't want to be a chemist! So I took a business-related job with a small IT-related startup company. Like a lot of people I found my efforts to make a lot of money really quick only added up to many years of intensely long hours and hard work with no big payoff. After seven years, the job had run its course, so I found myself wondering what I would do next. What job would actually make me happy??
Well, that brings me to the current situation-- I'm going for an ASN, and my graduation date is may of 2005. After that I'd like to be a traveling nurse, and I picture myself going on for a BSN followed by grad school. So far (after my CNA training and a summer anatomy class) I'm having a blast! Can't wait for the first semester of real, full-time nursing courses.
As for my login name... it refers to the fact that I'm a (vege)tarian!
Good luck to everyone!
