Today is my sons birthday and I will be spending it with people I cant stand to be around.

I have to tests on Monday that I have yet to study for and a speech to deliver. (I hate speeches.)

I dropped my toothbrush in the toliet. All in All Im not too sure why I bother.

take some time just you and the kiddo first. or after work if you are already there. family is the most important. and do some good studying tonight and go to bed before 11pm, if you can. and get a new toothbrush asap.

it may seem frustrating now but remember your goal and that each bolder in your way is actually a stepping stone to where you want to be.

Who can't you stand to be around? You can disinfect the toothbrush, but reportedly toilet water isn't really that bad, as long as it's been flushed.

"This too shall pass"

Really, it gets better when you come out of the tunnel of nursing school. Trust me, I am a relatively new grad, I remember what it was like.

Get a new toothbrush, take your son out for a special time some night soon when you are done with the upcoming tests. Picture everyone in their underwear for the speech.

And remember, if this is the worst it gets, its really not all that bad.

Man, I hope those folks aren't ALL family, or you're in for many years of grief!! Better to learn how to accept that crowd as best you can!!

Yep, you and the majority of the rest of population; #1 fear of most people above dying and I forget what else...get used to it as you'll be doing it all through school and possibly in your career as a nurse!

Geez, I hope it's partly at least because of that kid who's supposed to be "celebrating" his birthday today....hopefully you're also "celebrating" his birthday....kids grow up too quick -- take it from someone who's "baby" turned 19 last year.

I agree about the buying a new toothbrush thing....I always keep extras in the house, lolol....

And good luck!!

This sounds just like the day I had recently....also on my son's birthday. It was hard and I know how you feel. If you don't believe me then read this http://my-journey-as-a-student-nurse.blogspot.com/2007/01/clinicals-exam-i-and-feelling-all.html This is the blog I wrote the day of my son's birthday...seems like when it rains it pours.

Meditating is better than deep breathing.

Staying in your room alone might make you feeling better...But....

Eating chocolate "alone in ur room" will only be making you fat.

Is that what you will be doing "whenever you are messing up your life."

Gooooooood luck!

Sometimes it the little things that drive you nuts! The 2nd day of my "Boards" (in the "old" days, we took 6 2hr tests over 3 days), I got toothpaste in my eye!!! So there I am in an e-normous room w/~ a gazillion other new grads, trying to read the questions and mark a scantron w/one eye. I passed.

Buy your self a brand new toothbrush, take your son out for a one-on-one celebration, or even a "date". Focus some time on HIM. Listen. While you're in school, it's a great idea to MAKE time for him, @ least once a week. Preventive care--saves you trouble in the long run.

Keep in mind that "this too shall pass". You have a bigger goal in mind, educationally speaking. Each assignment you complete is another step towards that goal.

Hang in there!!
