HRSA scholarship

Nursing Students General Students

Hi all - Just wondering if anyone had recieved the HRSA scholarship last year? I applied in time this year and met all three of their criteria: 0 EFC, full-time student and accepted into the nursing program.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if many people who meet the criteria actually get the scholarship or if it just another pipe dream.

Thanks everyone-

Melissa

Good luck on that Melissa--I hope you get it.

I applied even though there's no chance I'll get it. How the gov't came up with my $10,000 EFC is waaaaaay beyond me. I've only been working full-time (in a non-medical field) for 6 years, and 2.5 of those were waiting tables.

I may apply next year though, since at that point my EFC has got to be 0.

ha...I'm in the same boat as you, Mel D. I waited tables and was unemployed for part of last year, but the gov't still thinks my EFC should be $10K. Haha...however, my bank account does NOT agree that I have $10K sitting around for school. I applied for the HRSA anyway...maybe just to keep up my circle-filling-in skills during summer break.

LOL - well, here's to hoping we ALL get some good ole' government aid!!!!

While I didn't apply for that particular scholarship, I just wanted to tell you that your financial aid office has the option of changing your EFC. Go talk to them and explain your current situation financially and that should help. Good luck!

When you apply what information do you have to give them? Last year's income tax statement?

Cynthiann--

You give them the information from your FAFSA. When you fill out the FAFSA it calculates your EFC. One of the things you submit with the application is your SAR (student aid report).

Now when you fill out the FAFSA, I think you do need your income tax statements.
