I was just curious to know how much new grads make an hour after they graduate from school? Does it depends where u work or which degree u getting (A.D.N-B.S.N)?. I'm in the New York area, Anyone know more or less how much I would make after I graduate?......... :)

here in lovely FL (at one particular healthcare organization that owns several hospitals in FL) the starting rate for a GN - new grad is 17.06 for an ADN & 17.59 for BSN...
BUT if you're willing to work nights and weekends you can get about a 48% shift differential...i'm a night person anyhow so nights, weekends, and $26.00/hr here i come!
of course, since you're in NY it may be higher...
oh! and don't forget benefits - they are worth a lot!

Here in mid Delaware the GN makes 18.53 an hour. They do not differentiate between BSN, ADN, or diploma. I think it is a sad state of affairs since the local bus drivers (who are only required to have a high school diploma) make 19.00 an hour!
While the government whines and complains about the nursing shortage they are unwilling to do anything about fair wages!!

Yeesh.
At this point I'm just hoping to make enough to basically support myself and my boyfriend (who will by then be my husband) after I graduate. He'll still have about a year of school left after I graduate and then he wants to get his Masters.
*sigh* The joys of being a responsible adult.

Where in Florida do you live? I've heard that wages in salary are on the lower end since so many people are willing to move there to work. I was thinking about moving to Florida since it is where I grew up until I heard that so no I'm considering Texas.
Thanks everyone for your replys....... :)
