Help for TEAS test?

does anyone know of any resources that i could use to study for the teas test (it's a nursing entrance exam for the lpn transition to rn program)? i bought the study guide, but i need help with science.

The study guide should be all you need. Are there concepts within the study guide you're not understanding?

I understand the study guide but the school told me that there is a 50-60% failure rate !! They said there is Chemistry & physics on the test. I have never taken either. The failure rate really has me paranoid even though I'm a good student. Have you taken the TEAS? I was told there was psychological stuff on there. (Thanks for responding Wendy)

This may be just me, but I felt the TEAS was pretty easy. Before taking it, I didn't even know there was a study guide or what would be on it. I got to the testing center and everone had these books and I was like, oh crap! (I applied for nursing school at the last minute after getting rejected for Nuclear Med Tech school). I thought it was pretty basic high school education stuff with a little upper level science thrown in. There were only a couple of basic physics questions, some measurement conversion questions, etc. I didn't think it was bad at all. Not to sound like a smarty pants, but I didn't study and scored in the 99th percentile. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Get the study guide, work the problems so you'll be familiar with the types of questions and most of all DONT FREAK! :chuckle

...but by definition, if you scored in the 99th percentile, there are lots and lots of people who didn't. As I said in reply to your PM, butterfly girl, you can't really fail the TEAS.

I would agree that it's mostly high-school level stuff, though it all depends on how long ago high school was for you.

The other thing to remember--your score on the test is for the WHOLE test. You can make up for a couple of chemistry questions by doing well on the verbal portions.

I thought that test was easy. Yeah, there was some basic physics questions and one law of motion question. but no biggie.

I also thought the TEAS was easy. I never bought the study guide ( I also didnt know there was one)..and I had been out of college for QUITE awhile before I returned and had to take the TEAS. I scored in the 98th %

There is basically no A+P on it- I only recall 1 or 2 questions...and there was Physics and Chem- but it was realllllllllly basic Physics and Chem. I would get the study guide since you now know one exists and just study it. I saw it afterwards and was really impressed by how CLOSE it felt to the actual TEAS ( minus the A+P part- like I said- barely any).

I have to agree with you on that one, some people may not remember anything from high school at all. I've graduated 10 years ago, and I just tookt he exam this past Sunday and I thought it was a breeze. I'm not sure how each school analyze the score, but from what I was told at my school, it really all depends on what major your applying into. Some major they'll consider certain subjects higher than others. I know that the TEAS exam is basically for all Health Tech students. Science and math is going to be definitely part of the consideration since you need these to prescribe medication and give the right dosage. Best of luck to everyone who still have to take the exam.

My school (Ivy Tech) for nursing requires minimum scores of 80 in Reading, 60 in Math, 60 in Science and 70 in English before you can even apply to the program.

The test was a lot easier than I expected.

daytonite, or anyone that would know...i am a career change student(i did hair for 6 yrs.):nurse: pretty much means that i havent been to school in over 8 years. im trying to get into my schools lpn program and they require the teas test to get accepted:cry: ive been hearing and reading about the test. im kinda freaking out about that test:eek: i just started a&p 1 this week, so im feeling alittle better about the science portion but what i want to know is how hard the teas test really is. everyone on this website says that the test is easy...but is that because theyve taken other pre req classes? keep in mind that the only class ive had in 8 years is the a&p i just started...and im horrible in math. can anyone please help me out with some info on this issue??:bow:

I would take a basic skills math class just to brush up before you take the TEAS. The science is a lot of general stuff from junior high/high school. The ATI study guide was pretty dead on with the information covered on the test, so if you get that and study it, you should be ok.
