Hello everyone,
I'm new to this so please give me a hand if I seem to be going under. I am 25yrs old and about to begin a career in nursing. I live in iowa, have a two year degree thus far and will be beginning the nursing program at Southeastern Community College in June of 04'. In the mean time I'm enrolled in classes that I "can" take that are also needed in the program.
I'm interested in working with kids in the long run, as far as the details I imagine as my schooling gets going I'll be able to make a more educated decision soon. I did just go through an interview at a local Hospital, I was applying for something/ anything to get my foot in the door. My interview was with a supervising RN and was for a position as a CNA in a ward with 81 beds. I was called today and was told that as soon as I get my Licensing (which will be attained by mid october) I have a position waiting for me.
I'm really excited about this and am now just interested in hearing other peoples stories and advice if available.
Hope to hear from people giving me that advice.
thanks
sean

That's great news -- Good Luck. I'm new the site too and addicted. I'm going back to school after a three year absence (had a baby) and am very excited and nervous about it. Had a great job with a northeast utility for 20 years but hated it. So, family new I really wanted this and said GO FOR IT. I'm 39, married and have two children. Louis 15 and Kristalise 3. Well, I transferred from another school and have two semesters to go!!!
Good Luck!
