Having so much fun!

Nursing Students General Students

I'm in my fifth semester of a BSN program and even though I'm only three weeks into the actual nursing program, I'm having so much fun! I love my clinical instructor, and my classes are interesting and my classmates (especially my clinical group) are amazing. I got to volunteer last night at a student run refugee clinic, doing assessments and vitals and discharge notes. I even got to present a patient to the attending! I was treated as a valued member of the team (nursing and med students).

I'm just having such a fun, positive experience and I wanted to share :)

I'm just going to keep updating this thread with things I want to chat about.

I had my first exam today - foundations. I got a 92, so yay! My first clinical is tomorrow, and I have a med math test. I also have vital sign check off on Friday and a Health Assessments exam.

Congrats!

You can also keep updating this thread with pearls of wisdom for those of us not far behind you. ;)

Maybe I'm having a little brain fog tonight after a long shift but I keep rereading this and not understanding... How are you in your 5th semester of a BSN program but also only 3 weeks into the actual nursing program?

She is counting prerequisites as well. This is her fifth semester of schooling towards a BSN overall, but this is her first semester actually in the program doing clinicals and whatnot.

Sorry if I'm making it confusing, at my school we're called 5th semester students because we've completed four semesters of prerequisites. I'm in the first semester of my nursing program.

Volunteered at the refugee clinic again tonight - I got to do a UA for the first time, and order labs. I can't wait to go back next week.

I also did my first med dosage test and got a 92, I made two stupid mistakes (one with rounding, I put 18.8 instead of 18.78, the other was just me not paying close enough attention). I have my health assessment test and vital sign competency on Friday. Monday is our med check off and Tuesday is my first clinical.

You got this!

I'm so happy for you! I don't mean to sound weird, but while I was still lurking around on this website, I became familiar with you and was excited when you started nursing school. I'm really glad to hear that it's continuously going well for you and that you're really enjoying it!

Haha, thank you!

Got a 90 on my Health Assessment test, so I'm pleased. I also got checked off on my vital signs. I'm glad all that's over with!!

Monday is medication admin, but no lectures or labs, so I'm taking a little time off to just breathe.

Wow you are so lucky for the breathing room you have for this upcoming week. I have 3 exams (med-surg, pharm, and OB) next week :nailbiting:

I am really fortunate that we get one day off a week (Wednesday). There are two "big" lab days with no classes after for this semester - the med pass one and the foley catheter one. We still have work to do, but it's all online. I like no lecture days!

I just got an email that my exam grade was changed to a 92 - there was a mistake on one of the questions!

I'm happy for you Jen.:)

Crushed my med pass check off!
