Today was the coolest lab! We got to give each other flu shots. I have been so excited to do an injection =). (on a real human instead of my pets) My lab partner said she didn't even feel it. Next week we are doing a flu shot clinic, that will be fun as well.
Just wanted to share, no one in my house can appreciate my excitement so thanks for listening lol.
Do you remember your first injection? What was your experience?

wow! you poor thing, i woulda blocked it out too!
Someone in my lab aspirated blood (one inch needle on a real skinny girl)...but fortunately she didn't inject! It was a clear re-do. My lab partner hesitated and went in and out with the needle when she gave me my shot, my instructor was saying noooooooo! don't do thattttttt! LOL I didn't feel a thing, but then again needles don't bother me at ALL. I watched her do it.

I gave my first insulin injection last week and gave a shot heparin today. Besides a little nervousness they both went great. No complaints from either patient!
It was quite a feeling getting to "mark that skill off of my list!"

SIRI, I an just see your instructor now. We have one that would have been rolling her eyes as she was falling down from uncontrollable laughter. I think it's those littlre things like that that keep us all sane in nursing school. And trust me, i need all the help i can get.

Congrats!
My first injection was as a medical assistant, and I didn't even "Siri" the plunger! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
(Sorry, Siri, but now that it's over with, I hope you don't mind us laughing "with" you!) :chuckle

Yes, I just barely remember the aftermath, really. I really have blocked out the discussion afterwards.
First my instructor....
Then she.....
Then I......

Oh Siri, but look at you now, even if you did, "Siri" the plunger. You didn't let it stop you. :chuckle
