I agree with taking Micro maybe over the summer. Why do you have to take it in fall? Is summer not an option? It will be alot to take on with the nursing classes.

I definitely recommend taking Micro during the summer!!!

I took it as a Maymester (8 week) class at Mountain View. (It wasn't easy, but I managed to squeak by with an A for the class.)

There were a few that took it during 1st semester, and while they did pass both Micro and the nursing courses, it was a struggle!

OK Jaxia- now you and I were in the nursing office at the same time! Which one were you?! I saw your name on the sign in sheet when I was picking up my 4th semester packet...now which one were you? I was wearing a dark blue shirt with my dark framed glasses and I can't remember if my hair was up or down....dangit! I can't believe we were in the same place at the same time! I had walked back to Kenora's office and came back out and saw your name...I guess I could've asked!!! There were soooo many people in that little office! Well- it was good to almost see you!!! Dangit! :lol2:

I was in there with her...we were both standing by the door, Jaxia leaning on the counter sort of, me behind her. She was wearing a jacket over a purple shirt, brown ponytail, I was in a grey t-shirt and jeans, blond ponytail. I swear, sometimes I think we should wear nametags...here are our choices for 2nd semester, and we're looking for good feedback and advice!

Pritchett - Parkland w/ Trammell for peds

Trammell - Med City w/ Pritchett for OB, Isa for MS & OB

Smith - Med Ctr Plano

Isa - Presby w/ Trammell for Peds

Isa - Charlton w/ Trammell for Peds.

Help me rank them guys!! My PMs are open....lol

Hey guys - I'm going into 3rd semester and wanted to give info on 2nd semester stuff!

To be real honest I don't think you can go wrong with anybody you pick for clinicals. In the one choice you go to 3 different hospitals - Med City for Pedi with Trammell, Parkland for L&D and nursery with Pritchett, and Presby with Isa for Med/Surg. If you are OK with moving around and don't need consistency to be comfortable then I've heard it is a great rotation - you get to see different places and get a feel of where you like. Others went to Plano and really loved it and said it was a wonderful hospital with great staff. I really enjoyed Parkland - the teacher, the experience, and the staff. Lots to see and do at Parkland - especially in L&D and nursery!! Trust me - if you have had Mesq. or TSH this semester - don't be discouraged and think that nurses at all hospitals are so mean and rude! Parkland and Medical City had AWESOME nurses that enjoy teaching new nurses anything and everything.

Enjoy your summer and good luck with your selections!

I agree about Parkland. I really enjoyed clinicals there.

Congrats to all. :balloons:

Dangit! I can't believe you were there too!!!!! Geez. Yes- name tags when you're at El Centro!!!

Here would be MY ranking:

1) Isa- Presby w/ Trammell for Peds (Presby is a GREAT hospital and Trammell and Isa both are AWESOME)

2)Isa - Charlton w/ Trammell for Peds (Charlton wasn't my favorite hospital but Isa is worth the drive. and once again, Trammell rocks!)

3) Smith- Medical Center of Plano (kind of a drive out there but Smith is a GREAT teacher)

4) Trammell - Medical City w/ Pritchett for OB, Isa for MS & OB (Medical City is a WONDERFUL hospital! Being there for Peds is what made me what to get into Peds!!)

5) Pritchett - Parkland Trammel- peds (I've heard good and very bad things about Pritchett but I've not had her which is why I'm putting her so far down...some others may have another opinion)

Like I said, it's only my opinion. I'm sure there are people out there with differing opinions. That would just be my personal choice...I hope that helps..let me know if you want/need to know more!
